Lately I've been struggling with very painful anger. It seems to have themes as the program says. Trying to figure out the root or trying to figure out how the root was going to get pulled out only left me with more anxiety and pain, so here's what I've been doing [ for the past 24 hours ] : THE SECOND I have an anger thought [ or anxious thought ] I immediately [ inwardly ] say '' Jesus, I give this thought to You, and I give YOU the control of it [ or situation.] '' It has been helping me a lot, but it is imperative that I nip it in the bud. In other words, I have to say that IMMEDIATELY because if I give the thought 10 seconds more of attention, I end up going through the pain cycle. I didn't realize how very PAINFUL anger could be. Thank God I have hope in Jesus.

I'm glad for you. I wish I had the same, or something that could help.

I have been doing the same thing recently. When I have a panic feeling or a negative thought I "give it all to God" and when I am having a nice calm time I say "Thank you God for your peace" (And may I please have more of your peace)

To change your life, you must change the way you think. Behind everything you do is a thought. Every behavior is motivated by a belief, and every action is prompted by an attitude. God revealed this thousands of years before psychologists understood it: "Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts."

from "The Purpose Griven Life" by Rick Warren
