Brenda,

My mood swings don't occur so fast, usually over several hours to 8 or 12 hours. Usually my wife sees and I don't.

I know with my anti-depression medicine that I've tried cutting back on it several times and I become very unstable and go back up on the dosage. With that in mind....

Did you take yourself off anti-anxiety medicine or a doctor? In either case I know that you can't just go cold turkey and quit taking it unless it is a very low dosage. Especially anti-anxiety meds. The reason is because every anti-anxiety med I can think of has a controlled substance in it with the exception of Buspar. You have to gradually taper or reduce the dosage over time, usually weeks or months.

The problem could be that you still need the med but are not taking it. When your thinking patterns get healthy enough your brain will let you know that you don't need the med anymore in which case you will be sleepy during the day, or sleep 12 hours at a time, or something like that.

You didn't provide a lot of info about what is going on, so what I have written may or may not be of help. I definitely wouldn't go off a med without discussing it with my doctor, and gradually reducing the dose over time is the only way to do it. That's my opinion.

Brenda,
It sounds like to me that your mood swings could be coming from the anti anxiety drugs your taking. When I first took adivan I got Sooooo... angrey I had to go downstairs in my basement and find someting to kick or punch. Then after, I'd be so happy and relaxed I'd want to go socializ and have a party because my anxiety droped.(Or vise vera). Adivan setled my nerves for about a week and then my moods started getting worse, it stoped working so I tolk two but then the moods got so bad I stoped taking them. Then I got clonozipam...how ever you spell it. It helped me for two and a half weeks and then cashed because it too lost it's strangth. The side-effects was bad mood swings and depression plus panic attacks. I got so tired of being a yoyo! So you know what, I fought though it and got the program. It is so worth it!!! Now that I'am nerve pill free, still have strange mood swings but sertenly not as bad as on the anxiety pill. I'am not guite sure this helps but, let me know take care! Smiler
