Hello All,
I was just wondering if anyone in here can relate to me. for the past few months I would say 4 or 5 months I have been noticing mood swings quite frequently like changing almost every few minuites to hours ... I know part of it could be my level of anxiety etc ... when I am anxious or high anxiety I am kinda down and mellow ... when I am anxiety free for some of the day I feel good and happy and normal ... its sorta up and down up and down throughout the day? ... Can anyone relate? ... Do I have some sort of a mood disorder? .. (Probably the anxiety speaking being afraid of being manic or something) ... Is this common? ... Any input would be very much appreciated ... ------------------ SACHIN |

Hi PanicManSach,
Yes I can relate. Today is an example. I have felt great all day. In fact for the past couple of days it's been good. Suddenly I became angry, then I became scared. It's a regular pattern.(in the midst of my attacks and anxiety I changed pretty often throughout the day.) I feel the way you do when I'm anxious. I am upset that my night isn't going as well as my day. I thought I was making progress. Maybe I am. I think I just had to much free time today. I don't know why we are the way we are. I don't feel this way when I am "anxiety or panic free" I wouldn't consider myself a moody person either. But lately who knows. Do you notice yourself doing this when you are less busy and have more time to think? Do you have more going on in your life than normal? I'm sorry I can't offer some firm advise but I just wanted you to know that I think what you are experencing is common in people suffering from anxiety. I am curious as well, to hear from others and try and decipher why we do this. Good luck to you and take care, Vic |

Panic Man Sach,
When you are noticing your moods changing alot, notice when you are anxiuos if you have eaten wrong, like too much sugar of caffeine. When you feel your most anxious or the worst try to think about the things you have been telling yourself. Also see if you are worrying about something or if you are experiencing alot of anticapotory anxiety over something you have to maybe have to face that you don't want to!! Did you happen to see that special on Oprah Winfreys yesterday at 3:00 it was awesome. I am in the forum in tape 3 under fear of driving. That is the area I struggle. I used to have anxiety in alot of areas, but I worked through them all years ago in a program called Terrap in Orange County, I am from Long Beach. Foe some reason driving has been a tough one for me, also thinking of ourself being our safe place. That is a difficult concept for me too! I am now on tape 7, I think this program is awesome. The tape three on positive self talk from my experience is the key to our recovery. There is a book called What Do YOu Say To Yourself When You Talk To Yourself,I highly reccommend it!! Well just wanted to give you a little imput, Bye for now ,Backcomb |

Hi Panicmansach,Vic,and Backcomb.
I recently read something that explained alot to me about the moodswings. Dr. Claire Weeks is an "expert" on what she refers to as nervous illness. ie what we have. She explains that when your nerves become sensitized, it is not uncommon for your emotions to as well. She explains that there are many aspects to nervous fatigue. There is physical fatigue, emotional fatigue, and spiritual fatigue. The physical fatigue is that absolute exhaustion feeling, I am sure you know it well! The emotional fatigue is characterized as when you feel an emotion, it too is sensitized so when you are happy, you are SOOO happy and when you are sad, SOOO sad, may cry over the slightest thing, when you get angry, you get VERY angry etc etc. Our emotions are "sensitized" so that when we have normal everyday feelings they are very "intense" and that is why we all feel like we have bipolar disorder or are looney or something. You feel like you have no control over emotions etc. The last thing is spiritual fatigue which is where the depression comes in, and the feeling of bieng "too tired to care or try anymore". This is all a NORMAL part of the condition and as you relax and accept these feeling they will lessen and desensitize themselves. So that is what I have been going with and it truly has made a difference in my overall sense of well bieng. Hope that helps!!Chantal |

Hey Vic,
Thanks for the reply... I notice I do this more when I am not busy or have time on my hands to think ... sometimes i cant even sit their and relax and watch TV to unwind because my mind is going 100 miles a minuite thinking: what is causing this mood swings? could I be Bipolar ... am I loosing my mind? its frustrating I judge every move I make ... durring the times I feel "kinda up beat" its a restless feeling like I need to do something to burn it off ... I get very fidgety etc ... its wierd ... sometimes I freak out and think "Can other people notice" ...what if I just get up and loose control and get extremely hyper its wierd ... Anyhow it defeinitley hits when I am not busy or got time to think ... when I am busy ie. at school or work it doesnt bother me as much because I can concentrate on other things ... what do you do to distract yourself? ... Regardless of how hard I try I just cant relax ... I dont know what gives me relaxation anymore ... people have noticed I look stresed and just wound up ... I cant relax anymore it gets to me ....
