I need to know how to get started again. I become so angry because I have not finished mytapes and material. I had it for few years and was so glad to find this program on television. Seemed to enjoy and get better but now I have become anxious, almost house bound. Some physical problems retired early far too much pain. I know stress plays a part in it I can feel myself tensed up all of the time. Have been on medication but that doesnt seem to help my agraphobia or pain and I can have a big panic episode. I used to be "normal". I hope some one can give me and idea of how and where to start.

hi nursenomore,
if recovery was so easy everyone would be doing it. Where to jump back in? Just start at the beginning i guess, or from where you left off, it doesn't really matter. What matters, is that you learn the coping skills you need. Keep listening to the tapes, and working on being more positive.

Start at the beginning. Give yourself this time each day to work on this becuase you deserve it. You are the one that can take care of you and I know each one of us wants to be healthy and feeling well. But, it takes work. It takes us putting ourself first. Just start at the beginning and know you are doing something for yourself that will help you to feel better and better and time passes. You are worth every minute you spend learning how to take care of you. Instead of hating yourself for not doing the program say that "Hey, atleast I have the program, I know what this is, and I can work to make it better." You are way ahead of tons of people out there who don't even know what is the problem. You can do it. Keep checking in and let us know how you are doing. Hugs, Reena

Thank You for the suggestions.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will keep in touch. I just found the stress center on line and actually see there are other people with the same problems. I find the postings very helpful.

Hi,

I bought the progam 8 years ago and guess what? I didn't do it all the way either. I have listened to the tapes many times and do not have panic attacks, but I live with generalized anxiety all the time. Struggle to go out and do things-so please know that you are not alone. I realized that eventhough I knew the skills, I failed to put them into practice so I am starting over again (I just recieved the newest version of the program) so I would suggest that you do the same(start over I mean). I will not let myself believe that I will not get through this. I also was on an anti-depr. but stopped a couple of weeks ago. I do not want a medication to cure me. I want to cure myself! Start at the beginning, we can go through it again together is you'd like!

Hi nursenomore!

I know how you're feeling. The first time I went through the program I didn't push myself through my avoidances like I did and still am the second time I went through it. I'm getting ready to do certain chapters for the third time. Listening to the tapes several times really makes a big difference. Don't beat yourself up about it though, you WILL get through this because you did before. Try not to be upset with yourself about it, start over again or do the tapes that really apply to you right now. Always remember anxiety CANNOT hurt you, it is only a feeling. Practice your skills and float with it and you will see a panic attack won't hurt you in any way. I know you can do it, just have faith in yourself. The breathing and relaxation tape helped me alot and just being aware of what areas of my body felt tense (hands in fist, teeth clenched together). We are here for you and you are NORMAL.

Lots of hugs,
Dana
