You might want to check into bioidentical hormone therapy. Not every endo is for this approach so I suggest a good web search for info. Your late afternoon drain may be a symptom of "Syndrome X" which is helped by progesterone therapy. My wife & I both take it. It also helps with anxiety.

I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis, too. I'm 54 now, and have been taking synthroid since I was 27. It would've been nice to have had a doctor that didn't blow me off when I was a teenager with this. Actually, it wasn't diagnosed until my gynecologist noticed that I had a goiter! ~~ The reason I'm writing is to say that if you are not satisfied with your doctor's answers to your questions, please look for another doctor! I couldn't tell you how many times over the years that I was blown off by different physicians. What a difference the synthroid made.

Hi, I am a 30yr old female. I was just diagnoised with hypothyroid, I am on synthroid 1.25 mcg. I don't notice anything, I am extremely tired and lack motivation to do much. The only thing I notice is that my pierods are very light now, which is nice..lol. Does anyone know about Armour, its made from a horses thyroid, I have heard great things about it. Aolt of dr won't write a script.

I really hope that this thread opens up again and more people write because after doing good for such a long time I'm starting to get anxiety again more frequently. I get my results again today to see if my cancer is back and I'm freaking. I had abnormal labs that I repeated and I will find out soon. I'm scared.

You may want to ask your MD to check your adrenal function. If your adrenals are drained form stress, anxiety and worry, this may be the reason you are tired. My adrenals were shot along with having Hashimoto's. I too felt like I could sit there and stare at the walls. It was not a sleepy type thing, it was more of this agonizing fatigue that just would not lift. I take Armour thyroid, it works on the T3 and T4. Most allopathic MD's will not prescribe this as "synthroid" is their "miracle drug"of choice to treat hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's. My DO prescribes it. Also natural MD will as well. I have heard SOME allopathic MD's will, but I have not found any where I live. Anxiety will deplete the cortisol and once the fight or flight hormone is drained, you have nothing left, hence the tiredness. There is only so much those adrenal glands can make before they run out. I seem to fight low energy every day also. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 18 months ago and I use the CPAP (continous positive air pressure ) machine every night. I do need to lose about 35 pounds which I have fought for years now.
What is Hashimoto's and what is Armour thyroid? My brother tried Relacore with no affect. I take Prozac. I also take Lisinopril for bp and simvastatin for cholesterol. I don't relly believe this meds are good for me in the long run and I could do without the side effects too. Losing the weight would go a long way and I am eating better and exercising some since starting session 5. Thank you. |

I am new to this site but I'm glad that I have found someone else that has had some of my problems. I have have suffered with mild to severe depression for years now, and I hope and pray that this program works I have tried all the anti-depressents and now I'm back on Welbutrin. About 8 years ago I had to have my gallbladder removed, it was at that time I found out that I had Graves Disease, I did have my tyroid removed 2 years later, since then My depression has seemed to get worse. I always seem to have no energy and no will power and cannot lose weight. I weigh about 215 and would like to get to 185(which I know will help). I see that some has had success with the program I hope that it works!

Has anyone found that some symptoms related with your thyroid or parathyroid being out of wack are similar to symptoms of anxiety?
Have you been able to figure out how to differentiate when experiencing? |

I had my thyroid removed three years ago due to a goiter the size of an extra large egg. Dr. said to remove thyroid so that there would not be a regrowth of the goiter even though my thyroid was fine. Was never told this was one of the issues I was going to have to deal with for the rest of my life in regards to increased anxiety and PAMS.

In regards to differentiating between physical and mental anxiety due to thyroid being out of wack. I am finding that using the techniques I have learned so far in regards to positive talk and possible explanation for heightened anxiety I am able to determine whether physical or mental. If anxiety is alleviated after positive reinforcement, relaxation and explanation for feeling out of sorts I know it is mental otherwise if it continues nonstop for more than two days I will address with doctor for bloodwork. Hope this helps. Tapes are helping me with the mental control of my anxiety and I am only on week three.

It feels good to have other people to talk to that are experiencing similar feelings. The last time I posted my repeat labs came back down a lot but they weren't where they were supposed to be. I was to repeat it in 2 months which I did Saturday. This Friday I will find out for sure. *crosses fingers* I will have to ask my doc about my adrenals. My sleep apnea makes me very tired, I should use my CPAP more. I have to ask about Armour, too. I have heard a lot about it. I am using Levoxyl and have not had any problems on it. I do worry a lot about my cancer returning. My therapist says I have PTSD regarding that whole incident and says that caused my anxiety. I never finished the program because I was feeling better at the time but I am going to start again TONIGHT. I hope everyone is doing better. Talking to everyone makes me feel more at ease. Take care!
