I was told by my gynocologist that I have polycystic ovary syndrome. Anyone else have this?

In fact, I do have PCOS and I know a couple other people who have it. I don't make it a life altering problem but I do keep it in the back of my mind all the time, go to my checkups regularly and listen to what my doctor says. I can't change it or cure it, so I just have to treat it as my doctor says.

Are you taking any medications for it?

My gyno put me on Glucophage and Yaz, because my blood sugar was elevated, and my horomones were all screwed up. She also told me to cut back on eating certain foods, especially ones made with white flour and sugar.

Do you have to do any of that?

I also have PCOS. TTC for 13 years now. I think it contributes metabolically to my anxious feelings also. There is a great website soulcysters.net. you sign up and get support, kinda like here. the chat isn't great tho.

Yes, I take medication for it. I take Metformin (same as Glucophage) and I have to check my blood sugars once a day. I can't take artificial hormones, like Yaz, due to my medical history. I have to be checked a few times a year for changes. It has caused some weird things to happen too, the hair growth and such, how annoying. I have just been hanging in there and hoping it doesn't get worse. I am afraid of Cervical Cancer though, because I have had a history of Dysplasia and really concerned about reoccurrence or worse...

Just know you aren't alone. I am with ya, sister!

I don't have to check my blood sugar or anything yet, but she wants me to start eating foods that a diabetic would just so it won't worsen. I didn't have any weird hair growth, but I do have annoying acne. But the birth control should help that I guess.

Hi,

Once a radiologist told me I had it. Now my gyno thinks I do. I never get my period on my own. In fact, I was 19 when I first got it and then only because my first gyno decided to put me on the pill. They had to rule out Turner's syndrome and a tumor in the pituitary gland.

I am only allowed to take Prometrium for 10 days every month just to induce a period, reason being I have a heart transplant and my cardiologist doesn't want me on the pill in case of blood clots (I already had one stroke when i was 27)

What I hate most is my *beard* which I wax and pluck obsessively, acne, which I use Proactiv and adalapene gel for, and my infertility. I just don't ovulate. Even if i did, they say it wouldn't be smart to get pregnant because I'd have to stop taking the anti-rejection drugs for my heart.

What I don't have is high glucose levels. I eat sugar and chocolate like crazzzzy. I really need to stop and it's actually one of my goals here. I'm surprised I don't have diabetes yet actually.

Another recent problem is that my latest pap came out with mild dysplasia. I go in for a colposcopy on the 22nd.

i guess my stronger side says: what's next and looks the other way...

Hi. I have PCOS and my mother had it and my sisters have it too. Are you currently working the anxiety program with Lucinda Bassett?
