i have some ideas with this one....i'm curious, with all the people who suffer from this...Do you suffer from constipation and has it started around the same time if not before the chronic fatigue syndrome...? People who have or had CFS i would be really greatful for your post.

Thanx
Mike

Western

Fatigue/tiredness lasting at least 6 months and not relieved by rest. Also the fatigue is severe enought to restrict activity. Resistance, boredom, lack of love for what one does, overwhelming life circumstances

Fatigue lasting more then 24 hours after an amount of exercise that would normally be easily tolerated

Mild fever (101 degrees F or less)
Sore throat
Lymph node tenderness in the neck or armpit
Muscle weakness, all over or multiple locations, not explained by an known disorder
Muscle aches
Feeling unrefresed after sleeping an adequate amount of time
Headaches, diffrent from previous headaches (quality, severity or pattern)
Joint pain, often moving from joint to joint, without joint swelling or redness
Forgetfulness or other similar symptoms including difficulty concentrating, confusion, or irritability

Health care provider can diganosie this only after ruling out other following things

Infections
Immune or autoimmune disorders
Tumors
Muscle or nerve disease (ex. MS)
Endocrine diseases (ex hypothyroidism)
Psychiatric or psychological illnesses
Drug dependence
Other illnesses (such as heart, kidney or liver diseases)

Ok well i don't agree with alot of that information but that is what the teacher gave us as a handout on CSF
It doesn't specify how long they have the fever for...i really don't think anybody can have a fever of 101 for more then 2 weeks.

Anyways...With constipation if you can't poop then it stays stuck and if it stays stuck then you are just reabsorbing the toxins that ur body is trying to throw out. So i can definately see the body working harder to try to balance itself out...also in chinese medicine...when you have a hard time pooping...then there is a good indication that you are holding onto a past event or having a hard time letting it go. Which i can agree because i've had constipation for at least 12 years now and i haven't been able to let go of some of the crap in my past yet.

Ya i'm kinda like that myself MBS...actually right now in school we have a case study where 1 person gets 6 shiatsu treatments. 1 per week. One partner did it last semester while the other does it this semester. I get mine this semester.

I'm actually being treated for constipation and its strange... Typically i would hold onto people's negative comments (analyzing them and why they said it), but now its like ok well whatever they are just dumb and that is their problem.

Also not letting go can indicate that we obsess.... I use to play songs over and over and over and not really get into much of a variety and now i'm actually spending time getting new stuff. I use to spend a good 4-6 months listening to the same stuff...even after it got boring.

well MBS i appreciate you thinking i'm a genius but it is really the people who developed chinese medicine that should be praised. Ha I tried using laxatives before...single dose, double the dose...it didn't do crap (pun intended). Fiber, vegetables didn't help much either. Enema's would work sometimes.

Kp
Ya i thought the theory to it was intresting myself. I didn't really view the constipation as much of a problem at all. Actually for a long time i thought it was normal to go poop every 3rd or 4th day. Needle phobia started the day you got married eh? intresting.

Mercfocus
hmm do you feel tired alot...have similar symptoms to what is shown above?

With you i would be more intrested in what your diet is like...if you tend to get nose bleeds, loss of apetite and there are others that could be asked but i don't wanna write a questionarre :P

Beyond

That is a really big question...they don't typically fix themselves to a western pathology. It really depends case by case. I would typically think that if one went to a docotor of chinese medicine that they would use accupuncture on specific accupuncture points and herbs.

The choice really depends on all the symptoms of that specific person. If i were treating it i would definately focus on large intestine for treatment.
