My anxiety began about eleven years ago as a
result of PVC's (premature ventricular contractions.) It took me several years but I got both the anxiety and the PVC's under "bearable" control. But in November it all fell apart. My PVC's came back with a vengence, and so too the anxiety and now depression. I just live from moment to moment trying to do what has to be done to make it through the day. There's no joy in anything. Even though PVC's are supposedly "benign" in a healthy heart, I've had new symptoms and my doctor actually seemed concerned this time. He thinks I may be having "runs" of PVC's and said that was more serious. I hope to get the results of my holter monitor back tomorrow. Of course, I'm scared. Does anyone else here have PVC's? |

Hi Skippy,
PVC's are one of my most bothersome symptoms of anxiety. It's been going on for many years, but got worse about 3 months ago. My doctor is not concerned. I'm 51 and quit smoking 4 months ago. I don't know if there is a correlation with PVC's and quitting smoking, but it's an odd coincidence. Maybe because I gave up one of my stress relievers my PVC's are more noticable. Anyway, my doctor suggested getting more exercise. Please let me know how your holter test comes out. Best wished to you, Quietfire |

Quietfire,
Ive had pcv's for years, even had heart tests run, actually everyone has them, but we with anxiety feel them more becuase we focus so much on body symptoms.. However im on atenolol for mine and it works great. its a beta blocker. The arent concerned cause they are benign. Although they are scarey. Talk to your doc again. Take care |

andrea,
its like you heart speeding up and then skipping beats. Sometimes it can last a moment, sometimes it can do it on and off for days. Anxiety makes them worse, but they arent deadly,, take care nelly |

Well, I got the results back from my holter monitor and was shocked when the doctor's nurse called to give me the "verdict."
I had one PVC during the whole 24 hours! I said "then what was I feeling all that time?" She said she'd have to call me back, and she did. She told me the doctor thought it was anxiety symptoms, but for me to see the cardiologist. I saw him today. He said I was fine and that I really did only have one PVC and a few PAC's. He told me he could pick any person off the street and get the same or worse results. He was so kind though. He told me it wasn't all in my head but that I was a very sensitive person and therefore "symptomatic." It's a relief to know my heart is ok, but now to deal with the symptoms |

I know how you feel. I have had them recurring also. Wore the halter too. Doctor did not seem concerned as he said their common as you get older, 45 and above. He also said my anxiety may have a role in it. I did fine on my echocardiogram and stress test. Just have to lose weight now. Others tell me, not to focus on your symptoms, that only makes it worse. Easier said than done! Go easy I'm sure your heart is fine. It is just anxiety....Wayde

Skippy, so glad to hear your good news...you're going to be just fine. I remember not too long ago you helped me out a lot with the same problem...believe me you helped me a lot and I will always remember your name and be grateful for meeting you and your kind words...don't worry we're all here for you, it's going to be okay. Oh, I'm sure you already know this but deep breathing is suppose to be wonderful for these...very recommended by Dr. Weil...if you want go to his site and I believe he might talk about breathing techniques for this very thing. Take care!
