I gave up the tapes in week 4. Now I am trying again. Does any one have ANY suggestions for sticking with the program? Recording those negative thoughts. I feel like I need a recorder rather than a notebook. Most the time my negative thoughts when I'm driving.

The biggest and best reason is you got it so you could get better so that being the case STICK WITH IT .....FOR YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't think of a better reason.

Good Luck and maybe you should get a small recorder to carry with you...nothing to lose. Wink

I encourage you to work hard and follow the program. I just finished reading the workbook section for Lesson 3. At the end, Lucinda warns that it is a lot of work. Dont give up!!!!!

Determined to face my fears and succeed.

15 weeks is a long time, but hey what do we have to loose, thoes 15 week spent being the same panicy, scared, terified us? The issue I am running into is that I want to jump ahead... truth be told I am going through a cd a day.. It takes a lot of effort to losten to them over and over again when I just want to move on,.... how bad is it not to spend a whole week on a lesson?

Mamma Maria,
Baby steps, little baby steps, one at a time.
Go easy on yourself!
Two years ago I also stopped and then started the program again. Maybe for different reasons, but that doesn't matter.
Break down all the information into small pieces. Take little notes while listening to the tape.
Recording those negative thoughts- just put a little check mark in your notebook for all the many thoughts and now and then, when you can, actually write down the thought. If you only write down 2 or 3 a day, by the end of the week you will have over 20 to work with. Maybe take one or two a day and counter it with a positive. Any positive.
If you're driving, just say, "yup there's another one" and make an estimate later on for approximately how many came up during your drive. you'll remember at least one to write out and that's enough.
Session 3 is repeated a few times more throughout the program-listening to the tape anyway.
You don't have to "get it perfect" during that first week. take it easy on yourself, just do the best you can and that's good enough.
You'll keep working on the positive replacement thoughts throughout the program. It's incorporated into each session in one way or another.

Talula, Don't jump ahead. I think most of us were tempted to do that. I skimmed through the workbook before getting down to the step by step, daily working on it, but that's all.
As you go along it will dawn on you WHY the workbook is in the order that it's written in. We're ready for the changes little by little, step by step. Each session builds on the last sessions and prepares us for the next one.
Going through a CD a day is just adding to your anxiety and not allowing you to really develop the coping skills.
Sounds like maybe you're just trying to "get through it" and not really determined to make changes in your life. If you aren't ready to make the commitment to helping yourself, maybe you should put the program aside for a week and then start again.
Fifteen weeks is a very short period of time when compared to a lifetime of misery. Choices. Just how much longer do you want to hold onto your old habits and stay with the panic, and anxiety and depression?
When you're ready, you'll work at it and be able to smile at each and every accomplishment along the way. It's an awesome journey.

Forever, You'll get those 6 steps down after a while and then you'll see them kick in automatically. Maybe not in the exact order every time, but darn close.
Baby steps!

Huge hugs to all of you.

If I did it, and believe me, I was a pro at those negatives, YOU ALL can do it.

Just remember that it took some time for us to get this way and will take time to undo uor habits. The program was designed to follow one session every week. Probably should follow
the program the way they show you. I am one week #7 and am glad I went week to week. Paul

Using a voice activated recording unit is an excellent idea!
You can always write them down from there.

Good advice from everyone. Stick with it mamma maria, it is not easy but like you said take it one week at a time. It is hard for me to to write my negative thoughts down, but I am trying to do the best I can. I don't get mad at myself if I slip up, just start writing them down when I can. I don't want to be like this anymore, this anxiety has to go.
