DEAR PANICKED, you can do it! I know it's hard but try to distract yourself. You said almost had panic attacks. that means you didn't actually have one, so something must be working for you. remember it's O.K. to be anxious and nervous, you haven't taught for a while so what your feeling is normal. Don't freak!prepair for your day the best you can. and remember their kids they all act strange. Write back tomo and tell us how you did,I'm sure you'll be great.

Panicked,
You enjoy this, substitute teaching, you can do this. Go and focus on the kids smiles, their laughter, their silliness. Enjoy the day. I know that's easier said than done, but you will be fine. Keep telling yourself that. You are strong, you can handle this, it will be fun. Also tell yourself there is always a way out, that always makes me feel better, I can leave anytime I need to. Chances are, you won't need to leave, but that way it makes you feel more soothed and comforted, not scared. Take your cards and read them. While the kids are working, take a word search, keep yourself focused on something, and just use that positive self talk, it works if we use it. You wil be great, and I'm sure they will be thrilled you are back to substituting. Good Luck. Good Positive Thoughts, if a negative thought sneaks in, put up that red stop sign, and say no, I can and I will. Your Friend Angla |

I am a teacher. My best advice to you is to go early enough so that you can familiarize yourself with the plans and make copies of extra stuff just in case you finish something early and you need to fill the time. I still get anxious over my job and I have been doing it for 5 years. The best trick I have found is to stay calm and go with the flow. Don't worry if you are not right on schedule, the day will go by just fine. Take control first thing in the morning but not so much that the kids will be angry and give you trouble. Sounds like youve done this before...you probably know all of that. Relax, the kids will love you and you will feel accomplished at the end of the day!
