Does anyone have a specific fear of cancer? I need to go for a routine colonostomy, and my anxiety is uncontrollable.

Thanks,
Carol

Carol,
I have the fear of getting cancer. My mom and her brother have had it. My Grandfather has had it. It's pretty prelivant in my family. My uncle and grandpa passed away because of it. My uncle had a fast spreading cancer and didn't live too long after they diagnosed it...which they didn't find it early enough. My grandpa lived for 10 years after the initial cancer. My mom has had cancer twice now. They have TONS of new medications out there and if you get it early enough it IS treatable! I am only 24, but I already have a fear of this (and glaucoma since both of my grandmothers have it!). But I tell myself ALL the things I have gotten to do ALREADY in my life and if something like that happens, I know that God will take care of me. Death scares me too, but I know that He will take care of that too! I hope I have given you some hope on the topic. Just remember that the colonoscopy will help you find out if there is any cancer. Who knows? You could be cancer free! Anyway, take care and good luck at your doctors appt.
Cindy
