Ok, I know this is a common problem and one that most folks eventually get over, but for me I get the "what ifs" everytime I even think about getting on an airplane. Had a bad experience 5 years ago on a flight . . . terrible weather with extreme turbulance, and it has scarred me to this point. I fly for my job, but its a stressful, anxiety-filled time until I'm safely on the ground. I just want to be able to travel in peace and be free of the physical and mental torture. Any help?

It could help if you bring a little walkman and listen to the relaxation tape while you fly. Also, make a little kit for yourself to distract you. I have a little trouble flying and I always pack a little backpack with a magazine that looks really interesting, a book, a little ball that I squeeze when I feel fidgety and some munchies. I also have a little hand-held blackjack game that the volume can be turned off. Hope some of these suggestions help. Remember, fear is just fear and it won't hurt you.
