This afternoon I approached one of our construction project managers with a question about a particular item that appeared on a subcontractors contract. They were invoicing for a 6" piece of curb and gutter rather than a 7" which was what they were contracted to do. Apparently this man had just come from a scheduling meeting which didn't go very well for him so he had an attitude. He began with "This system here stinks...why do we spend so much time nit-picking over...blah, blah, blah." So basically I gathered that my job was meaningless (until the auditors come LOL). But anyways I explained why I needed to know the reason behind this and I even went so far as to say "You know...I am real sorry you seem to be having a bad day but there is no reason for you to be taking it out on me!!"
I managed to stand tall, perhaps even with a smirk on my face. But at least I was not in tears. Shawn. |

That is a great example and I am very proud of you for taking a stand for yourself and handling it the right way(I could use some pointers on this!!). Silvana |
