The book is very good, and it was what made me order the program because it helped me understand alot about my anxiety but it also made me want to learn more. That's why I got the program, it's alot more in depth and action oriented meaning there are alot of activities to help you get relief from your anxious feelings and things like that. It talks about alot of things that are not in the book. So yes the book is very helpful I still read mine sometimes, but the program is even more helpful.

SHARONA,
I DON'T HAVE THE BOOK. IF THE TAPES AND WORKBOOK ARE THE SAME AS THE BOOK. THEN WHO KNOWS? I FELL THE BOOK IS NOT THE TAPES NOR ARE THE TAPES THE BOOK. USE BOTH AND GET BETTER. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO LOOSE? A FEW BUCKS, OR LIVING HELL! IT IS YOUR CALL BABY DOLL, ALWAYS HAS BEEN. MY UNCLE HAD A FAVORITE SAYING "NOTHING TURNS OUT RIGHT ANYWAY" HE IS DEAD. (BAD OUTLOOK KILLED HIM) THAT AND A MACK TRUCK! DIG IT! PEACE OUT SWEETHEART, O/N |

Sharona,
I ordered the program having no idea the book existed and I'm happy for it. I bought the book during week 2 of the program, but put it away after reading 4 or so chapters. At first, there seemed to be enough of the same information in both, and I began to feel a bit concerned that I had just dropped hundreds of dollars on the tapes and only 15 bucks on the book...but that concern evaporated quickly. My take is this: Had I seen the book first, it would have been a welcome eye opener, allowing me to recognize for the first time that I was not alone, that others actually suffer with this uncomfortable, scary existence, dark sense of the world, this opressive nameless thing that controlled my life, an undefined something that consistantly stopped me from being the person I knew I could\wanted to be. But would it have helped me to the next level? Past recognition and a name for what I had? I don't think so. The book is good, but it is not a structured, interactive, planned, step by step guided process...and this is what the taped program is. It's like this. Suppose you needed to put together a kids bike for Christmas. Someone gives you a 'How To Build Bicycles' book. Helpful? Maybe...but would you understand the lingo, make the jump from bikes in general to your specific model, apply the broad concepts effectively etc.? Someone else gives you the instruction manuel(a lucky break) to your kid's exact bike...step by step, starting from square one, naming specific parts and which one specifically goes where first etc. Helpful? Absolutely. In my opinion, this is how the taped program compares to the book. And having now built that first bike, starting with the specific, step by step process...I'll be able to get mounds of useful information from the 'how to' book, because now, the word 'sprocket' means so much more to me(I know what it is, where it fits, what it does and how it functions). Before, in the 'how to' book, the word would have been meaningless to me...just another word in the middle of a another sentence. I'm very thankful I didn't see the book first because I don't think I would have ordered the program and what a devistating mis-calculation that would have been. If you read the book, and it's talking to you, then in my opinion, it would be a shame to stop there. Buy the program, listen, learn, practice and participate... and I bet some day, you'll be giving this same advice to someone else on this board. My best to you and your decision. |

I found the book to be helpful to me. I would encourage though to get the program. It does have the 30 day money back as someone stated.
I used the book during the 2 week vacation they ( the Midwest Center) suggest you use, it was a nice supplement. The tape and workbook program is more intensive and calls for you to do a lot of hands on activities. I looked at the book as an outline of the program, even though it went into details in many areas. I hope this helps. Heatherlee |
