Hello to All~

I'm a very spiritual person but am NOT Christian. I am hoping to hear from some of you who are of the same mind so that we can begin a thread of conversation that isn't centered around Biblical teachings. I'm interested in sharing experiences, thoughts/opinions and readings along the thought paths of some of todays teachers. Thich Nhat Hanh, Deepak Choprah, Eckhert Tolle, for example.

Anyone?

Gentle Blessings~

Shelby

Hey Shelby,
I do A LOT of reading of spiritual books. I have read Deepak and Eckhert. I also enjoy Dr. Wayne Dyer as well.... I think they all focus on one Source.... to some that Source might be called God, others Higher Power, Goddess, etc.
I am fairly sure there are a lot of members here who are spiritual, I guess my belief is that there is a higher power that guides all of us. I do believe in God and am a spiritual person, attend church but am not over the top either. Im all for 'todays' teachers.... as well as 'teachers' that have been around for centuries as well! Smiler
Im always up for spiritual inspiration if you ever want to chat.

Hope you had a wonderful day

Shelbyfae,
I am a very spiritual person yet not religious as you explained. I am curious if you have tried or are interested in meditation. I have been reading the book "Wherever You Go, There You Are" by Jon Kabat-Zinn. I feel as though the "mindfulness" he explains is beneficial when dealing with anxiety/panic attacks etc. Focusing on being alive in the present moment helps me to focus on "my safe place" I suppose you could say and to be aware that I am here and it's okay.

I am always up to learning new things and discussing various types/forms of spirituality as I believe it is incredibly necessary to develop inner-peace in order to live as our true selves.

Thank you!

Hi, I also am not Christian, but have a very strong belief in God. I have been attacked on this thread many times. I would be interested in talking. When you are talking about mindfullness, that is a component of DBT therapy. I'm not sure if you're familiar with that.
Hugs,
Hally

I don't know what DBT therapy is. What is it? I'm interested in learning more about yoga, meditation, positive thinking, Buddhism, Hinduism...

I also am not a Christian or Catholic, My path ventures toward the Pagan traditions and more indigenous cultures such as Shamanic teachings that deal with Energy and Nature in combination and also Celestial etc...
I find things like Rieki, and Acupuncture, and meditation to be of help with balancing the negative and positive energy that we endore or create.
I do belive Faith is a big part of helpful and a healthy lifestyle. But the faith does not need to be in GOD, but in one self!

Since religion is a touchy subject I just wanted to share a part of my belief(s). I would love to talk more about this on another thread dedicated to this!

Blessed Be,

Joe

What does that have to do with this threaded post? Believe what you want, but there is no need for you to be preaching what you believe to a discussion that has nothing to do with that you stated! In many ways thats pretty obnoxious!

I agree with you, Joe. Since we do have "free choice", like she said, we are here to talk about things OTHER THAN Christ. I want to learn about OTHER religions and hear what people of OTHER faiths have to say about what THEY believe.
