Hi all,
I feel kind of uncomfortable writing this but I am feeling very discouraged. I am just finishing the second session (should be on 4th)and have been suffering from panic attacks and feeling very depressed over the past week. I'm really discouraged because I was feeling so positive, with a bright outlook when I started the program. I started taking anti-depressent medication about 1 1/2 months ago and my Dr. just increased it, so I'm wondering if this increase in meds could be causing this set back? I'm sorry for such a "down" post. I am usually the one supporting my family and friends with positive ideas and thoughts for their lives. Thanks for listening. I look forward to your advice. |

If you truly believe the alteration in your recent prescription is not helping, please go back to your doctor and discuss how you were doing prior to the med change, and after the med change. Then the two of you can arrive at something that works for you. Best to you.

Thank you Pecos. Did you struggle with staying motivated and getting all the steps in in the early days of the program?

Hopeful 14, I can truly relate to your discouragement and your consideration that your medication might not be benefiting you. I am just beginning session 2 and have had the program for more than two weeks. Everytime I try to work on it, my anxiety level goes through the roof. I can't make up my mind whether to move forward in spite of how I feel or just to chuck the whole thing. I feel like a ping pong ball. As for medication, I am on a lot and think I am over medicated. I agree with pecos that you check in with your doctor about trying something different. There are so many medications to try and it just takes time to find the right one for you. Don't give up but give the doctor the chance either to go back to the original level of medication or to try a different one. Just remember that there is always something new to try.

Hi Hopeful: In response to your question as to whether I struggled staying motivated during the early session. No. I was so motivated not to be depressed, that what I most struggled with was trying to remember when I was ready to advance to the next session. I struggled a few times, thinking I needed more session work. Three was a big struggle. I wanted to stay on Three for a month. I did allow myself to move on to Session Four after I'd spent almost two weeks on Three.
I never worried about getting all the steps of the program. I knew I was moving along, and I stayed with the guidebook instructions. It helps to just do what the guidebook instructs, and what will be will be. You'll get the most that way, I do believe. |
