Hello everyone,

Today is not a good day for me. I am home alone with my 3 month old daughter while my wife is at work, and I think this may be causing me some anxiety. You would think that most fathers would be excited to spend some time with their new daughter and bond with her. Believe me, I love this little blessing more than words can explain. But due to these feelings, it makes it hard to enjoy these times.

My question is, does anyone have sharp, stabbing pains in their chest and down their left arm? They only last a few seconds, and then they are gone. I have them sometimes only once or twice a day, and sometimes a few an hour. They go away, but they leave me with the feelings of anxiety. Then it feels as though my heart is beating irratically. I dont know if it actually is, but it feels like it, so as a result I am CONSTANTLY checking my pulse! It is so annoying.

I know what you are all thinking. Heart attack, to go the ER, and trust me, I have been there a couple times for this. They have done every test on my heart imaginable from 2 stress tests, EKG's, echo cardiogram. Nothing. They say I am fine. I am a 27 year old male, and should not be at risk of hart disease.

If anyone else has this, I would love to hear about it. Let me know I am not alone as I am trying to beat and overcome this condition.

It should be noted that I see a chiropractor once a month and he adjusts my ribs and chest. I am wondering if he is doing more harm than good?

God bless you all!

Since you have had these tests done, I would look outside of the box.

I had the same symptoms, left sided chest pain with accompanying arm, shoulder and upper back pain. Saw many docs, and then a Neurologist diagnosed me with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which can mimic heart symtoms. I, too, go to a Chiro, but it doesn't really help much and oftentimes have more pain a day or two after an adjustment, so it leaves me wondering!

I still have the symptoms you describe...and though I know it isn't my heart, my head says it is... mind over matter.

Best of luck to you... enjoy your little beauty!

I would suggest skipping some chiro appts. and see if it goes away. I had similar reactions to some chiro adjustments depending on the chiro and what type of adjustment was done. I never did well with rib and chest adjustments for some reason.

I have had the same thing I dont go to the chiro anymore that was a waste of money. I am going to give it to God. Someone suggested going to confession. I am going to try. I will let you know what happens. Yeah I also had every test done and I was told there is nothing wrong go live life. Congradulations on your new baby.

I too have had this happen. I have seen 3 cardiologists. I wore a Halter Device for 30 days (it's a portable EKG system). They found nothing! If you have received all of the medical attention to see fit for ruling out a heart condition then I too would give it to God. Even after my cardiologist told me I have nothing to worry about, I worried. Why? Because of my obsessive thinking. I have become strong in that I tell myself, "If I die, I die." We can't control EVERYTHING. Live your life every moment in the present and don't worry about body sensations that mimic a heart attack. I asked my cardiologist if I should be worried about chest pains and he said that we are so quick to assume it's our heart when it's likely muscles in the chest cavity. Just think about it, when other body parts ache like our legs we don't freak out. Best of luck!
