I challenge myself to do at least 15 minutes of exercise this week. If I do more then yippppeeee for me, but the bottom line is I need to do something if nothing but stand in place and hop for 15 minutes. I will report next week if not sooner on how I did.

Feel free to post your own exercise challenge here if you would like and enjoy this very big step towards improving your life! You are AWESOME! Big Grin

I find exercise to be a challenge. My doctor and my family have been urging me to do some physical activity for the last three years but I have always resisted them. Walking bores me stiff and I don't know what else to do. I finally accepted that I have to do this in order to help myself. I bought a Healthrider exercise machine and it came while I was in the hospital. My husband assembled it for me so it was ready when I got home. I devote 15-20 minutes on it most days and feel very successful when I've finished with my workout. I don't always want to do it but know I will feel better if I go ahead and do it in spite of how I feel. It takes great courage to challenge yourself the way you are doing and I hope that you will be successful. You are awesome yourself!

Hang in there Darlene. Watching TV at the same time I do the exercise machine really makes the time fly. I'm nearing 60. If I can do it, so can you. Just work your way up a little at a time. After a while, you'll even feel it if you miss it. Take care. God bless.

I have found excerise to be a great help to me. Many times I don't want to do it, but once it's done the results are way worth it. I like to jog, and my wife enjoys pool activities (swimming, water aerobics, etc). The main thing is to find something that you "don't mind doing". To say find "something you like" might be a stretch! Smiler
Your last post was nearly a week ago, so I hope that means it has been a good week for you and that your new goal is working. I know it's an effort, and it's a pain, but the pain of not doing it is worse. Best of luck and hang in there! Don't beat yourself up if you miss, just get back right on track. None of us are perfect every day!

Last July I eased myself into a yoga class to help me meditate and become calmer. Yoga has helped me breath and relax and get in shape without feeling awkward in front of others. Five months later each time I go in I feel refreshed. I am now enrolled in yoga and a Full Body bootcamp. I modify the exercises as needed to suit my body and what I can do. I have to be careful with my knees and I do not feel a bit upset toward myself when I modify. And I ask myself how I feel. I feel invigorated and am so thankful I just started actually attending and building my abilities and strength at my own pace by doing what I can. It worth it and very rewarding

Well here it is.....

I think about exercise every day but some how I never get to it. I have now decided that I am going to walk at least 3x/week in the morning. I live in MI so it is cold outside so lucky for me I own a tredmill. So, I have no excuse for not doing it. I used to be really active but now I am so out of shape that I have to slowly work my way into it. I figure I will start with walking for atleast a mile then work my way up to running for a mile.
Well we will see how it goes. I will report back.

Learning how to fly.

Hello,

I think that is great!! good for you and I think I will take your challenge as well. I will do at least 15 min three times a week to start. I have a treadmil but I use it as a close rack. I will be dusting it off. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

I am starting my fourth week of exercise training this week. I have been going five days a week and I feel accomplished when I am done.

My first step is to get to the gym. Second, I stretch for 15 minutes and that feels great.
After my stretch, I do weight training for 30 minutes and 30 minutes of walking on the tread mill.

I am getting my body in better shape to compete in basketball and racquetball. The stretching, weight training and cardiovascular will allow me to do it safely. I am 40 years old and need to be good to my body.

Jumping on the basketball court cold is not a good idea. My goal is to see competition by the end of the week. Setting clear goals has helped me immensely. Happy exercise!

Count me in! I use my treadmill day and night. I am 53 yrs around and know how its done. First I placed rather my wife placed the treadmill in my den in front of my huge screen tv and next to my favorite recliner of all time. I think it was to remind me also the handiness of it. Starting early in the morn with sportscenter I fire up the machine, coffee that is and prepare to use the treadmill. After first cup is fixed and ready to drink I start using my treadmill. It has a killer mug holder and since its next to my recliner and all its just real handy. Throughout the day I use this same holder even unto the night time. I wouldnt expect anyone to try this type exercise early on cause it took me 53 yrs to perfect it. Now I am no great athlete nor bodybuilder but I have made it this far and weigh the same as I did in high school, just in different places. Good luck to all who dare enter, Bruce

exercise is increadably important for all of us, it is amazing what a difference it can make. I was running alot a few years ago, and felt great, but due to work and general lazyness, I slacked off, and now I am slowly getting back into it, but it is hard. The human body is amazing it what it can be pushed to do, but it also amazes me how fast it goes down hill if not maintained. Start slow, set small goals for your self, and don't get discuraged by setbacks and aches and pains. And don't give up!
