Each lesson takes you step by step to learn to overcome anxiety and depression. It's a tool and it works. You have to do the Relaxation tape, it teaches your mind/body how to relax, leave the left hemisphere linear thinking and just be. You have to learn the 6 steps to controling anxiety to help you get through an attack and stave off oncoming attacks in the future. You need to do the homework and journal and the writing down the negitive thoughts. It's like an education in you and how you are thinking that causes your anxiety and depression. The writing the positive counter thought after the negitive is entraining you to begin to think positively. You can't just think about it, or assume you already know you're a negitive thinker. You actually have to write down and experience the thought process. And exercise!! It releases those so important endorphines and uses up the extra energy anxiety produces.

In the begining it is so hard. You feel like you're failing, a fraud, not doing it correctly but that is the negitive addiction in you trying to keep you from getting better. I have the same problem, went through week 3 twice because I just couldn't get it. If you truely want to get better, it takes a lot of work, dedication. The process is long, not an instant fix. Also, remember you will have good days and bad days. Keep with the program and keep in touch with the support group. There is always someone great that comes through for you.

"The way to new consciousness is through an eclipse, that is, through the darkening of the consciousness ~ classically expressed as a depression or introversion shrouded by doubt, feelings of hopelessness, fear, lack of meaning, and a sense that life is being threatened with stagnation and death. Unconscious threatens consciousness, but from the conflict that then ensues comes the possibility of a new insight, a higher wisdom, a renewal of life in its fullest sense."~ Fred Gustafson
