I love the book "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy" written by David Burns. This book was first written in the 70's, (has been revised several times of course) and is used in psychology and counseling programs everywhere as a learning/teaching tool.

It is one of the first to focus on CBT, but is written so everyone can understand, with hands-on activities.

It is for depression and works great for anxiety! The author is a psychiatrist that gives real world examples from his 20-some years in practice, and talks very realistically about med's, with out condoning or condeming them. He gives very simple activities that really make a difference. There is even a workbook out now that focuses alot on anxiety. It is worth it, I read it again and again.

There are several pages available from Google (w/permission from Harper Collins) under their "Books" section. Even more pages are available if you have a (free) Google e-mail/"gmail" account.

This link may work:
