am currently on lesson three of the program and doing really well, I think. My primary problem is definitely depression, not so much anxiety.

I want to try one of Lucinda's books, but I'm not sure which one would be better for me at this point: From Panic to Power or Life without Limits.

Any thoughts?

I would try Lucinda's first book, FROM PANIC TO POWER. I recommend that first because even though depression is primary in your case (mine too)the skills in the program and in her first book will work for depression.

Behavioral/Cognitive research are telling us that all the time. The recent studies are very, very positive. THEN, I would read, Carlson's book, YOU CAN BE HAPPY...no matter what. (We have it here at the Center if you can't find it.) YOU CAN BE HAPPY is one of my favorites. THEN, Smiler read and work with, YOUR DEPRESSION MAP, by Paterson. MAP is a workbook, one of the latest. There are tons of books, lots of knowledge out there for us, but get the basics first, lay the foundation, then BUILD! You CAN overcome depression.

If you need some medication for a time, so be it. Talk with a knowledgeable doctor and pharmacist. Walk until you think you've walked around the world. Get a nice music player of some sort and put your ear phones on with peppy music (I'm listening to GArth Brooks this morning WOW what energy...I'm ready for a concert - want to go?!).

There are studies that prove the value of music therapy. As you know we feel what we think and peppy music "plays" with our brain chemisty too. Smiler This is of particular value when we have that ticker-tape machine going on in our brain. (One negative thought after the other and nothing we say or do stops it=ticker tape machine.) Do NOT listen to melancholy music... nothing that brings you down in the least.

I hope you will drop me a line at the Center and let me know how you are doing.

I believe in you. Carolyn
