Thought Viruses: Powerful Ways to Change Your Thought Patterns and Get What You Want in Life / by Donald Lofland

This is a very interesting book, especially if you like to get an idea of how "things work." The idea of "thought viruses" compares how the flu attacks our bodies, or computer viruses destroy systems.

"Thought viruses are unconscious thought patterns that distort our thinking and perception of the world. They arise out of our learned behaviors and disempowering beliefs, and they can have a crippling effect on our professional and personal lives. Thought viruses take a wide range of forms: a debilitating fear of failure (or fear of success); excessive worry and guilt; compulsions and addictions; destructive communication patterns in intimate relationships; self-sabotaging tendencies; and intense internal conflicts that can trigger chronic, degenerative disease.

Lessons include how to:
Break through self defeating patterns, such as fear of failure/success, procrastination, and internal conflict. (Also phobias)
Learn highly effective alternatives to drugs for alleviating allergies and depression.
Discover the missing link that will make mind-body healing three times more effective.

This might be a really great book for those who feel they are suffering from a disorder of some sort, because you learn how to get rid of the "virus" that is causing so much trouble.

I love self-help books, and this one, with it's slightly scientific edge, has been a major eye-opener for me. Let the healing begin!!
