I read the book in one weekend. I found it to be very informative and it's what encouraged me to buy the Attacking Anxiety and Depression program.

Do you have the program as well?

I have not finished the book but don't you think there's a lot of the same stuff in there that's in the program? I will dig it out today. Haven't looked at it in quite a while.Paige, I've thought from the beginning that you've done well in the program for just starting. Is that why? Do you think the book gave you a jump start?

I'm actually very new to the program. I'm starting tape 4 this weekend. The book is what made me decide to buy the program. But the "jump start" I got was from everything I've been doing for years before I came here.

And you Barb? Are you finished the program? How are you doing?

I too was drawn to buy the program as a result of the book. The book is a wonderful resource and addition to the program. I have loaned it out and recommended to alot of people, who have also given it nothing but rave reviews!!!!!!!!!

I finished before Thanksgiving. I've had xanax for years and for some reason it happens every month where 3-5 days (usually 4) I get real anxious, nervous, bitchy etc. The program has helped but at those times I need to remind myself to take now Lorazepam before bed. I liked xanax better but have discovered I get more mileage out of the Loraxepam. I break it in 4! Paige, do you take anything for anxiety. You're young an pretty. I pray more people can find out about this program at a younger age. But at least I found out about it and have made improvements and will continue to do so.

I am up to page 60 something (Personality Traits) and so far I really like it. I actually found out abot this book AFTER I heard about the program. The book was written in 1995 and I think they should have updated it for 2005/2006. Lucinda discusses events and dates in the book which dates the book bacjk to the mid-90's. Small gaffes but something that needs to be addressed if they continue to reissue the publication.

That being said, I think this will be a good book to have as a future resource and one that can go back to again and again. The book is only a few hundred pages and it is a very quick read. The program on the other hand includes 16 CD's, 4 DVD's plus another 240 workbook so there is much, much more included in the program. Plus, the add-ons i.e. these forums, chat rooms, etc. are a HUGE help when trying to work things out and are a good repository of information on a wide variety of topics.

Peace,

Barb, have you noticed a connection between that 3-4 days of increased anxiety and your menstrual cycle?

No, I don't take anything for anxiety. I believe that only by feeling everything fully and paying attention to the lesson it's trying to teach me, can I learn from it and fix anything that's broken in my life. I'm not saying anyone else ought to do this, nor am I saying that medication doesn't have a place in the treatment of this disorder. I'm just saying this is what works for me.

To me, balance in every area of my life = health. When one side of the balance scale in any area of my life is disproportionately weighted down with my daily existence being incongruent to the life I want to live and the person I am, then I inevitably feel that imbalance emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. By that I mean, the heavy end that tips the scale is full of everything I don't want in my life because it's not who I am. For example, I may be in a job I dislike because it's not my "calling," or the people with whom I interact may be a negative influence, or the books I read and the TV shows I watch bombard me with darkness through never-ending images of war, suffering, hate... as can the conversations I participate in. The result is, I feel as bad as the life I'm living.

The imbalance between what I desire and what I'm participating in shows up in the form of panic attacks, depression, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, strange aches and pains, sleeplessness, dreams filled with reminders of what is out of sorts in my life, etc.

But when I’m doing my life’s work, surround myself with people and read books/watch shows that feed my mind and my soul, etc… when I do the things that keep me clear and in balance, then EVERYTHING works! I digest food as my body was meant to, my bowels work as they’re supposed to, I sleep soundly and wake up feeling rested, I’m content and at peace, I don’t have panic attacks or bouts of depression. PMS is even bearable! lol

I am the only one who can rebalance this scale so that I live the life I want, which is aligned with my dreams, my desires - who I AM.

No pill in the world can do that for me.

Hey Slider
Good to hear you're enjoying the book. Did you happen to get the sample CD you ordered last week? Just wondering what you thought of it.
Another good book Lucinda wrote is Life Without Limits interesting, inspiring read. Take care.

Yes, I got the CD on Saturday and listened to it on the drive into NYC. I thought it was pretty insightful especially the interview with that doctor.

I just gave the CD to my mom for her to listen to when she gets the chance as well.

As for eh book, I am up to page 105. My program arrives on Monday March 5th so I will begin it "offically" sometime tomorrow.

Peace,

I loved this book but read it years after I finished the program. I picked it up when I was going through a growth spurt and it really helped me to re-gain focus and decide to do the program again for a refresher so that I could get out of this spurt.

Truthfully I don't see the need to update the book, the lessons are all there and that information really doesn't change. I am now reading Life Without Limits...although I've only gotten maybe 40 pages into it, I like it so far.
