Finally got Hope and Help for you nerves.
I have barely started it but have a question. She talks about "floating" through the symptoms and thoughts. One of my thoughts is "passing out" and "floating away" I would love some suggestions on how to float through panic when floating is what I don't like to feel. Thanks |

Good Afternoon Jadenslight!
"Floating" with anxiety is accepting any and all body symptoms you may be experiencing. Just accept what your body is doing (as it is only adrenaline),do not fear what is happening. These often scary and uncomfortable symptoms of anxiety will not hurt you. Once you accept the feelings and symptoms, you are floating with them. Once that occurs, the symptoms become less frequent, less intense. It takes time and practice, but you can learn to do this. Good Luck! lizb "Afterall, everybody only hears what he understands." by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |

Hello, i read the weekes book several years ago, and the "floating" is a tough concept to grasp, but it is important when the first panicky thoughts intrude. I believe combining the floating with deep, abdominal breaths and comforting self-talk will help. God bless.

Would any of you be interested in discussing Hope and Help for your Nerves chapter by chapter? I gained so much from this book and would love to have some people to discuss it with!

Holly,
I would love to discuss the book with you. I have just a few more chapters to go before I finish, but I've already gained so much from what I've read so far and it has had such a profound effect on how I view my anxiety and depression. This book is a god-send! |

Her books have changed my life as well. How should we go about our discussion...on this forum? or on email?
