Wow! This book is hard to get into, but once you get going, it's a really great book! It's written by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. It's the first one of his books that I've ever read. But, it's powerful.
There's two quotes at the beginning of the chapter that I'm starting on that I wanted to share regarding anxiety. "Anxiety is the mark of spiritual insecurity."--Thomas Merton. "So long as we believe in our heart of hearts that our capacity is limited and we grow anxious and unhappy, we are lacking in faith. One who truly trusts in God has no right to be anxious about anything."--Paramahansa Yogananda.
Anybody else reading it? My life has been so much better since I started reading this book and following the steps outlined in its pages.

Yes I have that book! I love Dr. Dyer. I watch him when he comes on PBS. He's really motivation and comforting. I have not tried to apply his book to my life yet because in the beginning he listed 7 steps that had been mentioned in more detail in a previous book he wrote so I wanted to get that so I could better understand this book. I'm so glad it's helping you. That's wonderful news. Keep us posted Smiler

Hi,

I watched him a few weeks ago on the PBS channel. He was great! He was offering all his stuf (books, videos, etc.) for a donation to the channel to help them out. Maybe he'll be on again. I so enjoyed his outlook. I did take the advice too. Trying to be more spiritual.

Dear Mopar,

Hi! I'm glad you saw Dr. Dyer on PBS. I saw part of his show on Inspiration, but didn't get to see the whole thing. He is a big supporter of public television. Not to put down PBS (because I'm a member and supporter of them, too), but if you can't afford a donation to get his products, they are available otherwise for less money.

Take care.

Dear Erialicia,
I'm sorry you took the quotes in a negative way. They were meant in a positive aspect--to try and increase and deepen one's faith. That's what this book has done for me. I wanted to share it with others.

I think part of the quotes are talking about inner peace. I have a strong belief in God and his son but deep inside I struggle and I have a hard time putting all of my trust in God because people with anxiety want to control everything around them and that makes it hard to trust even God. If we did then we would not have anxiety. There are people that are truly at peace with everything around them and it is not that they believe more in God it's just that they know how to trust completely and let everything go.
It all goes back to the reason we have anxiety: fear, dissappointment, anger, frustration, guilt, low self esteem, sadness and the need to control. These things make it hard to trust in anyone or anything. It's mastering each of these things that will help to truly find the peace and comfort that we all want so much.
