I wanted to share with my fellow OCD sufferers some really good reads. I think these will appeal to all OCD sufferers, but especially those with religious scrupulosity.
The first is "Tormenting Thoughts and Secret Rituals" by Ian Osborn MD.
The second is "The Doubting Disease" by Joseph Ciarrocchio. I really recommend this for those who suffer with religious scrupulosity.
The OCD Workbook second edition is out in the book stores now...good way to start reading about this painful condition. There are some VERY good books outon the subject...the problem seems to be that sufferers are afraid to read them for fear they will latch on to a scary thought in the reading...once we become more confident that we can calm the thoughts and, replace them etc. you will find reading about OCD not so scary and truly comforting. I'm currently reading "Stop Obsessing! How to Overcome Your Obsessions and Compulsions" by Edna Foa. My therapist mentioned that I displayed mild tendencies of someone with pure O OCD, so I picked up this book.
YES, it's scary to read, because I do fear that I will pick up on a scary thought and can't stop the obsessive thinking... but it is really good and uses CBT to help.
