Bob I also have read the book. Great book! I also have the workbook that goes with it. I just watched him last night on tv. I think he comes on around 9:30pm our time on one of the cable networks. It's a half hr program. He really inspires me. Take care! Chrisitne
Hello I have Joel Osteen book and I liked most of it, but the idea of having favor from God. I was wondering when he was not getting his speeding tickets, if he learned his lesson not to speed, and the parking lot incident, saying that God will find him a space. Well if he was Christ Like, he would of given that space to someone else. That's all. Take care, Elisa
Elisa, I hear what you are saying. His point is that his favor from God is within him. That good things will happen if you believe in him and have faith.

It is refreshing to hear a pastor like Joel Osteen preach about God's love, compassion, and forgiveness. I too love to hear him speak. He put's God's Word on a level that I can understand. I also have his book, would love to get the workbook. It's a great book. I agree that he is saying that his favor from God is within each of us. Joyce Meyer is another good author, if any of you would like to read her books. She comes on tv at various times and channels throughout the day.
Hi Believe, Ido have tapes of Joyce Meyer. My friend gave them to me. And i do watch her on t.v. She gets right to the piont also. Have a great day. Bob

I really like Joel. I'm not a church going, bible believing person BUT what I like about Joel is he talks in normal language. I get from Joel that it's inside of us to make our lives work. For me I feel that is what it's really all about.
I just thought i'd let you know that I get a daily devotional from The Purpose Driven Life web site. It's really nice. I'm sure Joel and Joyce have a daily devotional too. God has given some great gifts to His people. There are so many gifted speakers and thoughts on the Word. Do you guys find that reviews or opinions can be negative no matter who the person is? I mean, I try to form my own opinion based on how my spirit feels. Not everyone is for everybody, ya know? Sometimes I get confused or discouraged when I think- "Oh, this will be a great book for me. This person knows what they're saying and they love the Lord so they must be right." Maybe I should just stop reading reviews. I can get too bogged down with negative challenge. I've read stuff where people have said Joyce got this wrong, or Joel did this wrong, or the Purpose Driven Life is off because of this or that---ahhhh.Even Lucinda has been criticized for being a luke warm Christian (not evangelistic enough) I know the Word is the final say, but good gravy. Should I just try to look for what feeds me....??? and discount the rest? Thoughts??? Sincerely, Kristen

I do understand what you are saying about reviews and negativity. I personally do not read reviews on books, movies, etc. I use my own instincts and my own judgement for what works for me and my beliefs. Anyone in a Pastor's position, especially one that is so well known, is going to get critisized, as is people that are in Lucinda's position. I believe you are on the right track in just looking at what feels right for you.
I hope some of what I have said, makes sense and helps you.
I think whatever works for you is what works. I still say that the message is the same (anxiety, religion, etc) just presented in different ways and however it speaks to you or not, is fine. I don't think there is a wrong or right way to "believe".
kvsdiva I agree with liz. It's all about what moves you! I am not a "Christian" yet I LOVE Joel. I also love the books {conversations with God}. Totaly away from the Christain beliefs yet moves me just the same. I just love God. He comes to me in all different ways. As long as I walk away with a sense of him, joy and hope...I'm good! Christine
I totally agree. Take what's real for you and leave the rest. You'll never find anyone else you agree with 100% on everything. I created a lot of unnecessary pain and aggravation for myself before I learned this truth.
Thanks guys, I guess I need to simplify things and take them for face value. I mean, I know truth, so opinions and interpretations are just that. I need to take what feeds me and not get caught up in the little things.
