I have to admit that for now I am giving up the journaling of negative thoughts. Truth be told, it is tough for me to journal at ALL for these past couple of weeks. I am so immersed in self-help books, tapes, videos. I try to do a little of SOMEthing each day..I try even harder to give myself credit for what I DO seem to get done, ever since the "should" session, I've been shoulding all over myself, tho'. LOL

Gawd.

I'm not as disciplined as I need to be, it seems, to work this program perfectly.

I guess for me I do the journal writing but I dont right down neg. thoughts as I go during the day and cant remember what they were. I suppose a little more work on this one for me.
If you could just do the journal at the end of the day I think this would help more than you realize.Sounds like things are difficult for you right now. THATS OK. Just dont beat yourself up Shelby. Hang in there . Paul

I am afraid to journal because I'm afraid someone will find my notes. I would be so embarrased if anyone saw it. So far, I have been listening to the CDs because I am too impatient. I want to learn as much as I can and quickly, I am anxious you know. I plan on going through a few CDs then going back to do the workbooks. Do you think this method would work. I am just so excited to listen and learn so much, it's hard to stop.

You probably should follow the week by week schedule and not get ahead of yourself. You'll be surprised how each lesson builds on the next, but if you don't complete the workbook assignments and continually review the audios, you will miss out. I'm on Week 6 now, and I can really see how its working with the schedule that Lucinda and her staff have devised.

Best wishes in your journey!

Matthew ~ I agree with you as to staying on schedule with the program. I began Session 6 on Friday. Can you tell me the name of the Spiritual Workbook you ordered from the Stress Center again? I wrote it down to call and order but can't find it anywhere. Thanks! Robin in VA

Hi all,

I agree journaling is hard and I haven't done much of it. However, I would like to share this with you all. Tommorrow I'm traveling (by air) to see my nephew and family and I'm nervous and a little anxious.

I decided to write these thoughts with a positive thought down:

1) I feel nervous and anxious about going away, 2) I just want to stay home.

My positive: 1) I will treat my nervousness and anxiousness as excitement...I'm going to see family that I truly miss. And so what I'm a little nervous, it has been a while since I have traveled alone, but I have done it before and it's no big deal.

I will comfort myself and make the best of it

2) Wanting to just stay home is the wrong way to think, I really want to enjoy my life, my family, and ME. My world is going to get bigger, not smaller.

I say the above to myself and I do feel better, it doesn't take it all (the negative)away but again that is okay.

Anyway I'm off and trustful that things will be fine.

Take care and be well

GS. I'm very impressed with your negative to positive statement work. I'm glad that this works for you. I'm having an issue right now, but do that for myself.

As for skipping ahead or just listening to the tapes/cd and going back later to do the workbook: I think it's best to follow the schedule outlined for you. You have to use each piece of the program every week on schedule. I half heartedly started the program 8 years ago and only made it up to lesson 6 before I quit. Obviously I'm back with the program and following it religously. It is helping trememdously.

Adele,

I am now on Week 8 (2 weeks behind schedule), but I'm happy to be taking it slow. It was interesting to me that you quit 8 years ago and now are back and following the program. Best wishes to you the second time around!

Hello all,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Thanks for the support and encouragement. My trip was great, Seeing family that I haven't seen in a while was very good for me. I have fallen behind a bit as well. Currently I'm on lesson 6 (anger). Truth is I don't mind taking it slow, even though I'm a little behind I have been working consistently. Right now I'm splitting time between the program and two college courses (not to mention work and family). So far the lesson I'm working on is interesting to me because of how much we hold on to that is negative. What further amazes me is how much others hold onto in terms of anger. People just can't go, it's scary

I am on Lesson 3 and probably 4th week, this lesson is challenging, I've had a busy work week, children and spouse, I've written some negative thoughts, got to find time in my busy schedule to change my habit of putting others need ahead of mine to even write a positive though from the negative though without all the interruptions, any other thoughts? So I will take a moment to myself by taking time off work to honestly study lesson 3 because it is a vital part and healing step to moving forward from negative thinking to positive thinking which leds to positive action results especially when dealing with other people. So keep me in your prayers for gaining strength and discipline while working through this lesson. Thank you.
