I am on session 5 and I have found that my anxiety is getting to be more and more. Some people have told me that things get worse before they get better and others are telling me that because I am working the program, it is bringing out all of the things that I have suppressed. Any comments?

This is very common. My thought on this is that we are listening to and seeing ourselves as we really have been for so many years. I actually cried when I started and had this through the first 6 sessions at times. Just keep using the positve thinking skills, breathing skills and relaxation cd. take a break, go for a walk or do something to get calmed down...different things work for different people. Just keep doing the program...this will stop. You can stop it yourself but don't let it get you worked up. DON"T QUIT !!!!

Hard work = Best Results, Go at a comfortable pace.

Wishing you a great journey to a new and better YOU!!

Thanks for your imput. I am working on moving forward and getting to become a new woman. I am having a hard time doing the relaxation cd, just because I am so busy, but that is something that I really need to work on. Questions, all of this talk about coffee.....I have one cup a day, (which I usually don't finish) do you really think that that is something that I need to cut out.

Regarding the coffee, if you think it may play a factor in your anxiety then try without it for a week or two and see if it makes a difference. If it's not different and you miss the coffee, start back up. No big deal. Some people are really affected by things and others aren't. Sugar isn't too big of a deal for me, but I got worried for a while every time I did have it because I "wasn't supposed to", but then realized that it's not a big factor for my anxiety.
I did the program a 1.5 years ago and am still working through some of the concepts that I haven't been able to grab because it's a slow process for me to let go of the control, but now that I'm getting closer and closer to MY core issue or me belief system, I can tell it's flaring up a bit for me. My counselor has made it clear that it's perfectly normal for our brains to work harder to scare us or alarm us because we're getting closer to healing. It's used to feeding us negative/scary stuff so it's poking us anywhere it can! Smiler
Hope that helps some.
All the best to you!

Hi Daneen,

I have about a cup or less each morning, down from 2-3. If it doesn't make you feel anxious at all then I wouldn't worry too much about it even though the program sais we need to rid our diets of caffein. I plan on switching to decaf or just not having coffee anymore. Right now I feel it is more relaxing than a stimulent to me.

Doing the program faithfully is so much more important right now. My thought.

Have a great day!

Sometimes it is hard to float, when all I do in the moment is focus on the scary thoughts and physical symptoms. My breathing goes crazy and I feel as if I am going to be sick. It is so hard.

Yes I understand those feelings and went through them during sessions 1 -4 inclusive. It will get better. You MUST DO the DEEP BREATHING each time this feeling comes over you. That was what helped me most. My chest felt so tight and it was too hard to even do the relaxation cd at first. Once I calmed myself down with the breathing I could then make myself do the cd and must say that I did the full 45 minutes one day and did not want to stop listening. For the first time in so many years I was in a relaxed state. it was just glorious!

Best Of Luck...It Will ALL HAPPEN SOON. DON'T GIVE UP...EVER!
