I called my pharmacist to ask if changing my birth control pill from mircette to the generic Kariva, would cause me to be more anxious and depressed. I've been on the kariva for 2 months and I've noticed more depressed feelings and more anxiety. Anyway the pharmacist said that it was the pill that made me feel that way but it wasn't because it is generic. He said that the pill depletes the b vitimin from your body, and it makes women feel more anxious and depressed and even tired. Thats exactly how I've been feeling. So he told me to go buy a vitamin B-complex with C (which I assume is vitamin c). Are any of you taking the same thing? Has it helped and how much of it are you taking a day. The pharmacist said to take it 3 to 4 times a day. On most vitamin bottles it says to take it once a day so why so much more? Should I go see my doctor first? I know your thinking it's just a vitamin so don't worry about it. But I have a problem with taking any kind of meds.

Hi Candy,
My gynecologist told me to take Vitamin B6 and he said people usually take 50 mg per day. I told him how I've been feeling, exactly like you were saying, especially at the time of my period. I even called my endocronologist to see if that would be ok to take with my synthroid and she said yes alot of patients are on it instead of an anti depressent. You can also take a Vitamin B Complex. You can probably go online and find out more about different vitamins, too. I'm going on them, as soon as I get my butt to the store and buy them! Razzer I hope this helped you out a little!

Hey, I wondered about that myself! I think I will get some Vitamin B too. I went out and bought that GABA today. I'll let you know how I do with it.

LeslieAnne,
Sorry to sound dumb, but what is GABA? I've never heard of it. I don't usually take vitamins so I don't know alot about the names or what certain vitamins do. All I know is that the pharmacist wants me to take B-complex with C. Thanks and take care.

GABA is an amino acid that your body makes but is usually deprived of. It has a calming affect on you. I went to the health food store because the doctor was trying to put me on an anti depressant for anxiety and depression. I was determined not to take it. The guy at the health store told me to take the B complex and he bet it would help. So I got a multi vitamin and some extra Vitamin C and I have been feeling better. There are days where I feel nervous (usually around PMS time) but I can tell a difference. Of course prayer helps a lot too!!!! Good luck!

I take B-12 complex and it seems to help. I do know that I when I got off the birth control pill, I felt heaps better. I do not plan on ever going back on them. I am currently trying to get pregnant but afterwards I plan on using the FAM method (Fertility Awareness). For anyone who is interested get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. I have never known so much about my body. I just feel so much better now that I am more knowledgeable about what is going on during my cycles. I just know that us anxious type folks like to know why about stuff and after going a year with out getting pregnant, I started doing some research. This book covers everything from PMS to menopause and how to talk to your doctor and actually know what he is talking about! Hope this helps. I have also heard of people getting vitamin B-12 shots from their doctors.
