Also knowing that certain foods that are healthy will really make you feel much better. Chips are just a quick fix and thats what we are craving "A quick fix" Let me know how you are doing!

Hi Trish (angel27),

EAT MORE!

A basic characteristic we all share with anxiety-panic-depression is a knee jerk reaction to deprive our selves. I also know from experience how deprivation fuels out of control cravings, while abundance fuels a manageable balance. How does this all work with eating? Well, by making the commitment to more frequently add nourishing foods today, there simply is less room for junk, and less and less cravings to fill. I may still seemingly eat some junk, but it will not be as much or as often as before. Remember: The goal is improvement, not perfection!

Basically, Ive learned balanced eating means dividing total calories for a day into eating at least every two to three hours a nourishing meal of 60%Carbs/20%Protein/20%Fat. Thats generally three to four nourishing snacks plus the traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. A nourishing snack might simply be a cup of nonfat milk and an apple, or four crackers with two tablespoons of low-fat peanut butter. It may not seem like much of a snack, but its just enough to gain more control over our appetite and help maintain balanced body chemistry and energy. The BIG payoff is I feel better, better and better!

I found the key was to just stop beating my self up about junk and start focusing on committing to eating more by adding nourishing foods!

First of all try saying, "I've been eating foods that make me feel bad" instead of "I've been bad." You are beating yourself up. Would you tell someone else how bad they are?

I went through withdraws when I quit them. First thing is to know you will feel bad. You are physically addicted and your body is used to it. These foods make us feel good.

Exercise, of course, puts some of these chemicals into our system.

Drink alot of water.

Resist buying anything to bring into the house.

If you crave cookies----even though it is more expensice to buy small packs, purchase the individual serving at the checkout---get through your craving and move on.

The more you do other stuff the more you will be able to give up the stuff that makes us feel bad.
