I now eat about 1/3 the amount of sugar that i used to. I feel like i was obsessed with this chapter and it was holding me back.
I got off all caffeine though and i dont plan to get back on it. I do have an occastional candy that has chocolate in it though.
I feel that in moderation the sugar will be ok for me.
I am not eating 10 cookies a day and two handfuls of m and ms like i used to.
I do eat a couple of jolly ranchers or something like that for my sweet and go to dairy queen with the boys to get icecream once a week or so.
I guess i was just obsessed and stuck on this chapter and it was really holding me back.
Sugar is a part of life. I see even lucinda says she has an occasional mocha coffee ect.
I guess we just need to realize that it does affect our moods and our anxiety and try to keep it in moderation instead of filling up our selves on all sugar is what i used to do before the program.
So........I am moving on. to EXERCISE two mins a day for starters LOLHEHE

Hi Lori,

Getting off sugar is fabulous for your general health and wellbeing and some people anxiety is certainly very responsive to it continually, in time you do find your own balance.

I stopped all caffine, alcohol and sugar for about 6 months when panic first started and it certainly helped, but now that I'm pretty ok most days and am nutitionally stable and emotionally better I have allowed myself the odd glass of wine and some sugar both in meals and as treats and have not felt any side effects at all.....!!

I decided not go go back to my beloved Diet coke though unless it's caffiene free and even then just a swig or two as I know that did affect me quite a lot.

Well done for all the effort you've been making . I know how hard it can be.

I don't mean to make light of this subject.
I do believe that being healthy, and taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle are an important part of overcoming anxiety.
But I do not plan on elimininating all sugar from my diet.
Sugar is just one part of the overall aspect of health.
Although I am currently overweight, I still do things that are physical. This weekend my wife and I trimmed a large tree, and in fact, I just got back from taking a load to the dump. This involves alot of physical exertion.
I wash my own cars and mow my own lawn. I have a physical job.
I still have a desire to lose weight and get aerobically fit. And I do plan on changing my eating habits. But like I said, I may cut down on sugar, but I don't think I will ever eliminate it.
I usually drink diet pepsi, but occasionally I NEED a regular pepsi. I think diet coke tastes terrible.

i know what you mean joe and i love pepsi so much i wanted one today so bad and i think diet pop is awful except diet rite grape and rasberry,,,
guess what i did today? i bought a whole pie for me and my family but mostly for me a carmel pecan french silk pie and i ate a piece Before i went to my dental exam, sugar and a little chocolate in it
i feel like you do sugar is a part of life and i dont see myself totally cutting it out for good.
I think as long as we see that eating and drinking tons of it will make us spazy and anxious, and eat it in moderation we will be fine, im speaking for me anyway LOL
anyway i need to exercise i dont get any exercise
i agree joe diet coke is icky LOL

Lori,
I'm so proud of you.
I know how hard it was to purchase that pie.
I know how hard it was to place the knife directly into the pie, and cut yourself a slice.
I know the stress of placing that fork into the pie, and then lifting it to your mouth....LOL
Please tell me you washed it down with a Pepsi!!!
