Hi everyone! I'm new to the website. I've been in the program for about 4 weeks now. My problem with eating is that I eat too much. before I knew it was anxiety I thought I was diabetic because I always felt like I was going to pass out and I would panic. Then I realized what it was, but my dr. told me the anxiety could lower my blood sugar. Now when I feel nervous and shaky I feel I need to eat. most of the time I'm not even hungry, but it usually makes me feel better, probably because I tell myself it will. Does anyone else have this problem?

i went through the exact same thing. when i first started having anxiety symptoms, i thought i was diabetic or hypoglycemic. i told myself that if i ate something then the symptoms would go away. after i found out that i was neither of those things, i still found comfort in eating when i was anxious because that was how i had originally dealt with the symptoms. i found that if you go keep yourself busy reading, talking to someone, writing in your journal, listening to your relaxation tape or anything else you can find to do, it gets you through that anxious period just as well, if not better. it does take some time but you'll become less dependent on food to make you less anxious. |
