Hey there, funny you should bring up this topic, because I was wondering the same thing this morning. Sugar? What is acceptable, what is not. Orange juice is LOADED with sugar, yes it is natural sugar, but 8 ounces of it has at least 3 oranges in it and that's too much. I avoid orange juice at all costs. I try to use my better judgement. Obviously cottage cheese isn't terrible for you and either is fruit, but if you were to go out and eat an entire cake, that would be not a wise choice. I've completely cut out sugar from my diet (brownies, cake, soda, etc.) and I do notice a difference.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. Frank Herbert
"How you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And, so it is with life, which for many of us becomes one big test followed by one big lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word: grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, darkness and the light."

I buy all natural 100% orange juice, and I use Splenda instead of sugar. It's derived from sugar, but it's not the synthetic junk like the other sweetners. My doctor said , if your using sweetners Splenda is the one to go with. Also, the bonus is, you can bake and cook with it too. I know it's expensive here in Canada, but it's worth it.(the Splenda) I wouldn't cut out fruit because we should have 5 to 10 servings a day (fruits and veggies) for fiber etc...., so Lucinda i think, must be talking about the refined sugar.

Another tip..........the best time to eat sugar is on a full stomach, after a meal rich in protein. Protein stabalizes blood sugar levels for many hours. The worst time to eat sugar is on an empty stomach, even a freash fruit smoothie. Even though it is fruit and full of vitamins and fiber it hits your system and bam your blood sugar goes way up and then plummets. If you have blood sugar issues or are sensitive to sugar you will notice how bad you feel after indulging. It is amazing how many things turn to sugar once eaten ie baked potato, whilte rice, etc... Arrrgg everything in moderation......balance. By the way is there spell check on this site? I have never been able to find it. Coco

Hi Dee. Actually, that makes sense and of course if your not diabetic it's Ok. I hear you. It's best to keep it all in moderation like someone was saying. Like for instance, potatoes which are very good for you, and are a good source of potassium should only be consumed one at a time, and not blobs of it like some people do with mashed potatoes. Same with orange juices , etc.... This is going to be tough to get onto, all this information. lol. Anyhow Dee, it's good to know that your a pharmacy tech, and we can come to you with lots of questions. Take care Dee, and everyone. Night all!
