I've been doing 3 miles walking/jogging since April, 2002. My jog time is horrible compared to my twenties, but I still enjoy it. I try to do it 4 times a week, but lately have been only averaging 3 times a week. It is one of the highlights of my day. I was just wondering who else exercises on a regular basis? I know there are a few of you.

Hey Don. Yup, I do 2 miles a day, walking the dog. It's up hill one way, so that's a help. My speed depends on anxiety level for the day. I was doing it 7 days a week, except when it rained, and then I'd jump on treadmill. But I'm going only maybe 3 - 4 times a week of late. Bears were out, and I was chicken in the dark. A few new dogs came to the neighborhood also, and they're loose (and ferocious barkers) so I won't go without hubby (and he's not home all the time). Keep up the good exercising!!! Big Grin

Hi Don and Roses---I exercise 5-6 times a week and most of the time it is my highlight of the day also. It relieves me of that extra energy and sometimes even puts things into perspective for me.

I do 12 miles on the bike (with resistance) and 1 mile on the treadmill. I also work with weights. Trying to eliminate those Grandma arms, LOL.

For about a year I was doing 45-60 minutes of aerobics a day, and I felt wonderful!

Since getting pregnant, I haven't been exercising, and I'm sure that's a huge reason why my anxiety is returning. Most of my anxiety is centered around health fears, and exercising daily always made me feel healthy and strong so those fears didn't bother me. Also, learning how to deal with the body feelings exercising causes (rapid heart rate, heavy breathing, sweating) made me feel a lot more secure about dealing with those feelings when anxious.

Anyway, I'm trying to get back into it (it's been about 3.5 months since I last exercised regularly), but it's a lot more difficult now that I'm pregnant and feeling anxious again. Still, it's not as hard as it was to start exercising the first time, and it's really the one thing that makes me feel tons better.

I started lifting weights when I was young because of low self esteem I think. Around 9 years ago I got back into exercising after my rock band broke up and I developed a new interest in backpacking. My achilles tendons were in real bad shape due to getting older and being inactive and I found a doctor who guided me through some stretching and exercising. Slowly I was able to run and jump again. I found it good for the depression that was starting to hit me pretty hard. So now I run because once I couldn't and lift light weights. I've had a lot of tendon problems in my ankles, knees, and shoulders that only get better with regular exercise. I've got to keep the juices flowing or it's painful and debilitating.

I went through some tough financial times early this year when I started timing my 5K & 10K runs as a distraction. I've heard President Bush has done the same thing. He's been running with more intensity since moving into the White House. He's quite a bit faster than I am.

I found a new sport a couple of years ago that is a lot of fun. I kayak on the big lake down the street once or twice a week. It's a good upper body work out but the best thing is the feeling of solitude like I get hiking in the woods. It's very cheap and doesn't take a lot of time.

Don and I are fortunate to have nice weather all year in Texas. It really helps the outdoor activities.
