cnn article on St. Johns Wort

A case of "He said. She said." again . You be the judge. Just to remind us that there is no one single solution to this condition.

I had tried St. Johns Wort before. But not enough to have any effect. Do you think St. Johns Wort works for you?

It worked for me for a while but my anxiety/depression got too severe for it to be of any help.I agree with you on there being no single solution. That ties into that magical thinking concept.I've spent a long time there. This program in combination with herbs/medications are looking in the realms of reality. The program itself is fully capable possibly without herbs/meds.You have to do what you're going to be comfortable with. We're all different.Take care.

Just receive this from Dr. Weil's Weekly Wellness Bulletin:

"WHEN HERBS AND DRUGS DON'T MIX
Be careful not to mix certain herbs (in extract form) with similar-acting prescription drugs, unless you are in consultation with your physician. Those to watch out for mixing: garlic, ginger, feverfew, ginkgo and bromelain with anticoagulants such as wayfarin (Coumadin) or even aspirin. Don't mix St. John's wort with antidepressants; or valerian with prescription sedatives."

I think the bulletin meant not to take St. Johns Wort with antidepressants. It didn't say what effect would be mixing St. Johns Wort with valerian. I don't have too much experience with St. Johns Wort, but I don't think it is a sedatives.

I joined the bulletin at www.drweil.com. You can get the weekly email bulletin for free. Just sign up. Great website for nutritional information as well. I highly recommend "Eating Well for Optimum Health" (like I haven't mentioned it often enough ).

Peace,

Valarian is a natural sleep aide-taken at nightime only.I mixed it with St. John's Wort and didn't notice any side affects.I think drop mentioned in addition to prescription sedatives.Everybody is different-keep that in mind.Take care.
