I am looking for an Atkins buddy. Is anyone considering starting the diet, and if so, would you like a buddy? I need some motivation to stay with it. My dr recommended it, and my dad lost 90 pounds on this diet, so I'm going to try it.
Thanks, AnnieG |

Hi Annie
I am also considering the Atkins Diet again. I tried it last year and was very successful -- only I couldn't stay motivated to stay with the program for more than four months. I lost a good bit of weight -- about 25 pounds -- and felt really good. I'm hoping to be "ready" for a 20 year college reunion in October, thus my reasoning for perhaps trying it again. I know ... you're not supposed to diet for a specific "event" but I'd really love to lose a good bit by that time. I have about 40 pounds that I need to lose and I'm thinking Atkins might be the way to go. Induction is the tough part, trying to wean from the carbs ... but as we add things back to our diet, it does in fact get much easier. Your dad lost a lot, huh? That's great for him. It's encouraging to me that your doctor actually recommended this to you ... I suppose the recent study in the news gives me a bit more confidence in the program as well. If I decide to hop on board, I'd love to have a buddy too. I'll keep you posted. Zachsmom |

My dr did recommend it. I'm also insulin resistant, and Atkins helps with that, according to research. I started Day 1 today. We shall see how it goes!
