Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get back on track with the food? I seem to have problems with "growth spurts" in this area. I lost 14 pounds last year around this time of year. Made it through all the holidays on program with Weight Watchers and then when my allergies started up in the spring I slid back into the old mold and now am approaching the 200 lb mark something I have NEVER in my life done. I usually weigh 140.
Currently at 190. I have a treadmill but don't seem to be motivated like I was in the past. I have a gazillion Richard Simmons, etc video tapes. I'm currently undergoing Physical Therapy for my neck and shoulder. I have daily chronic tension headaches and migraines occasionally. The doctor says I don't know how to relax...Anyboy have any ideas. I'd appreciate your input.

hey there c, i used to eat outrageous amounts of sweet stuff.and i have diabetes! i would eat 1/2 gallon ice cream at one sitting. moose tracks were my favorite.i could not control it. i decided not to have any bad food in the house. i started eating frozen strawberries and blueberries. used fresh or frozen fruit. splenda no sugar in the house. low calorie whole wheat bread. oatmeal or cheerieos for breakfast.skim milk, berries and splenda are really good and you can eat as much as you want.hope this helps a little, good luck Smileranita

Thanks Anita. I guess I just have to kick myself in the booty and get it in gear again. The PT I did yesterday has had some negative affects today. I woke up with a headache that led into a migraine. Had to take RX and have co-worker drive me home. I brought water with every intention of drinking it instead of the soft drinks.

My problem with getting rid of the sugar is 2 teenagers and an underweight dh. I know we should all get off of it but saying and doing are two different things.

Did you have any negative effects when you quit the sugar? It's funny but when I stop eating the junk my allergies are more pronounced and the reactions are more obvious and most citrus make the heaaches worse. At this point I really couldn't take anything worse than what I've been dealing with in the headache department.

I found a cool website called unwind.com Do you have any websites that are helping you other than this one.

I listen to an autogenic relaxation tape at lunch and just before I go to bed.

Hope you had a good day today...Keep up with your program. Thanks for your tips...

God bless.

I have the same problem at my house. My husband is a sugar junky and small and can do it. I am just the opposite and don't need it.

Kp, Moose Tracks should be it's own food group! LOL! I had to quit buying it because I'd eat it all.

Like Kp, I freeze fruit. One thing that works really well is to buy sweet grapes, wash them, drain them and then pop them into a zip lock bag and put them in the freezer. When I need a sweets fix or something sweet and frozen, I eat a handful of the frozen grapes. They are just wonderful!

Thanks Deb. That's a good idea. I wonder how some of the other fruits would be. Maybe like a sorbet - applesauce or pureed pears or peaches. I might experiment this weekend. I usually spend Sunday afternoons cooking a few extra things so it won't be such a rush during the week with the kids.

You will just have to try the fruits that you want and see how they are. I love frozen fresh peaches and strawberries as well. I can by them in the store in bags in the frozen foods sections.

I'd like to try freezing pureed stuff as well...might be on to something WONDERFUL here! I wonder if you have to stir them occasionally as they freeze? I will have to try it and see.

Smiles!

Deb,

I'm thinking freeze it and then put in a food processor - kind of like a slushee.

Let me know how yours comes out....

I had migraines and headaches for a couple of years. It's great that you've been able to get some PT.
My problem was chronic, too. So it really limited my ability to excercise. Eeker Since I liked to walk; this was disturbing. My suggestion is--when you have better mobility; ad moderate excercise to your wk (it will help you eat better Big Grin).

Thank you for your encouragement. I'm getting in the right frame of mind to do Weight Watchers AGAIN. It works when you work it. I've just been really out of control with the pain and using food as a crutch. There are three programs that when I work them my life is wonderful - This program to manage the stress and anxiety, WW to manage the food, and Flylady to manage my house. Of course, my bible study is my first program (it's such a given that I don't even consider it a program-LOL)
It's like a co-worker once told me - when I'm good I'm really good and when I'm bad I'm oh so bad!!! Which is described in That all or nothing thinking. Lucinda's tapes and in the Flylady program too. We just get distracted by life. My anxiety is better but I'm still not taking care of myself as well as I should. I need to work on that. Thanks for listening! Wink

I have one of those tupperware containers for sugar. When they came out with the pourable splenda I replaced the sugar and my husband hasn't noticed yet (2 years later). I buy these huge bags of Dole frozen fruit at Sam's club, it has green and red grapes, peaches, melon, pineapple and strawberries. The package is resealable so you just break off a frozen chunk and thaw the amount you want. Works great because I am too pressed for time to prepare and freeze my own. Have any of you seen the ad for the Magic Bullet machine? One of my employees turned me on to that. It makes the BEST sorbet and you control everything that goes into it.
P.S. Moose Tracks should be its own food group. That was the worst thing to give up when I was diagnosed diabetic. Whoever invented that ice cream should be given a medal and 20 lashes with a wet noodle.

My problem is after I eat I need something sweet. I never thought of freezing grapes. That's a great idea!

And I love the magic bullet commercial. I just wasn't sure if it worked as well as they say!

Good Luck Everyone!
