I took up yoga last week. I followed the cable programs

I like the Yoga Zone better because it is easier , shorter and the movements are clearly explained.

My question is that how is yoga for losing weight? I am doing yoga more for my mental health. However, since I am doing Yoga for 30-60 min every day, I am slacking off on other aerobic exercise. I can feel my body is toning up. But there are certain parts (my ab for example) of my body that need some fat burning and I am not sure if yoga is doing it.

Any suggestion?

Hey drop!

Haven't seen you around for awhile!

Have you heard of "Power Yoga?" I don't know alot about it unfortunately, but I have heard it's really a great work-out! More of a fat-burner.

I also do Yoga, more for all of the wonderful poses that feel so good as streches.

I still have to run, bike, jump rope, hike, etc. to really get my heart rate up to release my anxious energy.

Good luck!
Diane

Hello, Diane,

I did stay away for a short period. Nice to be back to a nuturing and supportive environment.

I will check out Power Yoga. Is it another branch of yoga? I am very confused about the different yoga styles: Hatha, Iyengar. But heck, I can always do what won't hurt me .

I would love to continue with my Taebo, the only other exercise I enjoy. However, It seems to me that Taebo and Yoga are in direct conflict. I punch and kick with a imaginary target (probably a person ) in mind. But Yoga centers on peace and relaxation. I don't know how to do both.

I do Progressive Muscle Relaxation and the tape that came with the program. For Aerobic exercise, I either take a walk outdoors for as long as I can take it, Or I put on some good music and dance in my living room. My heart gets pumping and it's fun and my kids love it too.
