Hi everyone!

*stands up* Hi, my name is Cindy and I'm addicted to sugar! LoL! I have been dieting for about a month now, and I've lost a good 10 pounds. I exercise almost every night, and am eating more healthy foods for my body (which makes me feel better). My problem is sweets. When I haven't had some kind of sugar (or at least when I think I don't have sugar), I get tired, dizzy, and feel out of it. Sometimes, especially when I have been out in the sun a lot, I get headaches because of it. I was tested for diabetes about a year and a half ago...and my bloodwork was fine (for hypoglycemia). Does anyone else get like this? And what foods that aren't fatty, sugary foods are good to eat? I am hearing that the phenyl something ruther (I don't have it right in front of me) that is in many "sugar free" foods is bad for you. Is that or aspartamine bad for you? Any info on this would be appreciated. Also, what foods are good to "perk" up when I start to feel sluggish and out of it? Thanks for listening, I appreciate any comments or feedback!

*stands up* Hi! My name is Diane and I'm a recovering sugar addict! YOU are so !!!

Congrats on losing 10 pounds! Way to go girl! I used to get dizzy alot too- I work out alot. We are losing alot of water thru all of that sweat! A good thing I might add! You have to replace that with alot of extra H2O tho! Are you drinking lots of water? As far as the sweeteners go I avoid all artificial ones. There is one called Stevia that I use in my tea. It is completely natural and can be found at most any health food store. To be honest I haven't given up sugar completely. I did when I was your age and a real fanatic about alot of what I ate. There are fruit sweetened cookies, jam, etc. There good for you, but I decided I am just going to have a little treat now and then. I live by "everything in moderation." Even Lucinda says that! I used to always get headaches in the sun too! I never used to wear sunglasses. Now I do almost all the time. That has cured that! Sorry, I don't know about the phenyl? As far as what to eat when you are feeling sluggish. Protein is the best. I have a bagel w/some peanutbutter on it, or cream cheese (the low in fat one) or sometimes I just have some meat and cheese without any bread. Yogurt is another good snack and fruit. Peanuts...yes, they have fat, but are high in protein!

Oh, one more thing- I don't eat 3 big meals. I have 6 small ones. That's just a part of what makes me feel better Cindy!

Hope this helps!
Take care!

Thank you guys for the info. I will check out that site! It's just hard when you go somewhere and have to eat 6 little meals while everyone else is eating just 3, but that's what I have to do too! Oh well, I guess that's just me...who cares what they think right? anyway, thank you guys for answering my ?s, I really do appreciate it!

Oh yeah, I wear sunglasses ALL the time since I live in the Sunshine state. If I'm not going to be in a store for very long, I even wear them there!

Ok, I've blabbed enough to you all! thank you again!

Hi Cindy,
I have an email I'd love to send you on aspartame and how incredibly awful it is for us, you will be amazed to see how harmful it is to us. If I can find it again I'll send it to ya. If you look on sugar free products under ingredients you'll see aspartame with an * next to it, then under the ingredients you'll see the * with the words PHENYLEKTONURICS contains PHENYLANINE next to it, so I'm assuming that phenyl is about the same as aspartame. Also, when I REALLY cut waaaayyyy back on my sugar the same thing happened to me.....fatigued, dizzy, out of it....I think it's due to withdrawal since your body is so use to having so much of it. It gets better, at least it did for me after about 4-5 days. I hope this helps.
