Hi everyoneSmiler last week i was doing good i was eating healthier and taking it easy with the junk food and the past few days i can't stop eating junk food and i'm back to my old ways, i'll get home from work and feel tired and stressed out and want to eat junk food to make myself feel better. I mean i feel sick and anxious later, but i mean i go looking for junk food as in a way to make me feel better emotionally i guess. I feel like it's something that brings me joy (like a treat when i'm stressed)and something that i can do especially when so many things are limited when u have anxiety. I'll tell myself to go home and either sleep or keep busy or work out or even eat something healthier instead but then i'll do that for a little bit and then run to the store and pig out. and it's not one candy bar, it'll be a big bag of chips, 2 or 3 candy bars, cookies and ice cream all at once. i mean that's a problem right there. so i need to stop doing this to myself. does anyone ever have these same cravings or feelings? and any ideas on how not to cave into these cravings? thank youSmiler

YES, I can totally relate! I love lots of junk, but it does not like me.

I have changed. Something sweet and very good...watermelon, frozsen grapes, strawberries with lite whip cream, how does that sound?

I try to keep chips, candy bars, cookies and ice cream out of the house.

Ok, I will buy 1 bag of Milano cookies when it is that time of the month, that is it. No chips and no candy bars. Ice cream, we go once every 2-3 weeks and get a Culvers or I will bring a small container home and no more than 1.5 cups every other day with no extra goo and sweets on top.

I think you can have your cake, just not on a daily basis. Treat yourself, go out for a sweet treat instead. All indulgences in moderation.

bella,

I totally understand your food cravings battle. What finally did it for me was the realization that the way I feel after eating that stuff is just not worth it. Now that I can see the damage that the junk food does I really do not want it as much - especially on the days that I want it the most like bad days, etc. I also try to not keep that stuff in the house and that seems to really help.

good luck!

hey thanks u guysSmiler yeh that strawberry and lite whip cream sounds good lol. you guys are right about moderation which is hard for me because i'll want it everyday and all of it too. you are also right when u said that when u think about how it doesn't make u feel good it doesn't look as tempting yet i'm still tempted lol. and i don't keep any junk food around the house but i do go to the store and buy tons of it and then usually eat it all right away. but if junk food was laying around the house it would be worse. but going to the store and buying and eating tons of it right away isn't all that great either. have u guys done anything to distract yourself from not eating those unhealthy but tasteful foods?

You can start as I did looking at the ingredients. There are so many horrible ingredients in many of the foods we eat. My step daughter is a double major in psych and nutrition. She said anything that is "partially hydrogenized" is HORRIBLE. That stuff clogs your insides up. Grab a package of junk food research those ingredients, that will scare you enough not to eat that stuff anymore. That is a great distration. There are foods that I will never touch again. I will eat a junk treat infrequently, moderation is key.

More yummy snacks...yogurt and frozen fruit, put in a parfait glass layered and drizzel granola for texture on top. How about fruit smoothies...some all natural vanilla ice cream, stawberries, milk, flax seed and wheat germ, to be healthy of course! You can vary the recipe with real fruit juices and other fresh or frozen fruit. With the warm weather, these are very refreshing and nutritious.

Good Luck! Happy Blending! LizB

Hi,
I totally stopped eating any sugar. Some of the sugar free ice cream bars are good, I know artificial sweeteners are bad, but don't use them constantly, just to get you over a hump. I don't cheat much because I don't want to feel bad anymore if I can help it. Lis's idea is a great one with the frozen fruit. Your body has to warm the frozen fruit, so your metabolism works harder. I ate a small ice cream today from Mcdonalds, and I had an instant panic attack, it made me feel awful. Just look at my earlier posts, I was practically sucidial, IM feeling better now. But the next time I want to cheat I will remember the awful way that ice cream made me feel.
