I just started doing a beginners yoga video tape and it's great! I felt quite relaxed afterwards although I realized my flexibility has gone somwhere over the past years . I would be interested to know if anyone else here practices this and how they find it. The great thing was my two boys (3 and 6) did the tape with me and loved it too!

I love Yoga!
Have started a class 2 mos.ago and just yesterday bought a video so I can do it at home. The one I got is Beginners Practice for Strength taught by Rodney Yee. It had great reviews i.e. the best Yoga class you'll ever take! I did it this afternoon when I got home from work when I usually feel like a nap and I was revived!!!
That is so great that your boys enjoy it too!

Take care,
Diane

Hi Dale and everyone reading,

I find yoga very helpful. I don't feel anxious during a yoga class, and more
flexible and relaxed after.
The only trouble I have is with getting
there. I have a fear when I very anxious
that nothing will help, not even exercising,
which always does.
Do you have this trouble? It is like I am so
set on being anxious that I don't want to
let go. What if I'm not ready? What if it
doesn't help? What if I feel worse?
I don't always have this battle, but for the
last month have.
Yesterday, I made it to a class. Tomorrow,
there's another. I feel too stressed to go.
Ha, it's almost funny...to stressed to relax.
I'm afraid I'll be late. I'm afraid that
it will feel too slow..I don't want to relax.
And, then, tonight, I'm afraid I won't
be able to sleep, mostly because feeling this
way, I don't want to. I don't want to take up the time, or have nightmares. I have things
to do.
None of this makes sense.
I think I'll go tomorrow.
I had two cups of coffee today...bad!! choice. I wish I wouldn't have.
Peace,
Kris

thanks to dl for your reply. Kris, I have two kids so going to classes is not a real option. Try getting some videotapes, they are great. I ordered mine from Chapters on line. They feature Rodney Yee...and hey, if Oprah liked them you never kknow!
Peace to you and inner tranquility
Dale ;-)

I had a terrible experience at my first Yoga class! I had an awful panic attack - but I stayed, which is good. And the meditation, relaxation at the end - forget it. I sat there with my eyes wide open, scared to death! I have been afraid to go back since. The class was very crowded and the room was very warm. I went to look at some other studios to see if the class rooms were bigger and they seemed equally as crowded - Yoga is "in" again! I will try tapes at home maybe it will make me feel better! Thanks!

Hi Dale,

I didn't make it to class this morning.
But did get a yoga magazine in the mail.
You are inspiring me to set up the
yoga place in my house that I've been
thinking of. I do have a couple tapes,
and a small t.v. to put in a corner.
I have this idea of making a relaxing place
in a room. It could have candles...yoga tapes, music, pillows and yoga mats.
Relaxing photos...
Thank you. I think we can bring the peace
of yoga to the home, then, of course,
go to classes if possible too.
It can be very spiritually relaxing.
hmmm.
Do you have a designated relaxing place in
your house that isn't for sleeping?
I'm getting out my elbow grease and putting
on my thinking cap,
Peace,
Namaste,
Kris

Kris,
I am so happy to hear that you are making a quiet space for yourself. I have a small home and two wonderfully enthusiastic boys tumbling about. Part of my journey out of this anxiooous space is recognizing the need for a quietarea all your own. I have a wonderful new potting she my hubby built me and I go there at times (my garden is my santuary...anywhere in it). I also have my "green room". This is a room all my own painted several shades of cool, soothing green. Here I have my incense, candles, drawings, books, quiet tapes, and yes, my computer to connect with the great people I have met here. Good for you making your space! It is essential to have a "secret spot" to retreat and meditate in. I am also trying to do some of my audio meditation tapes out in the garden. Of course, this will all become easier when school starts and I have a few hours truly alone!

Namaste (hands together...you know my kids are doing this now....influence is so important)
