After listening to Lesson 5 and trying the diet, I haven't found it helpful in my spaceyness and overall 'yuck' feeling. So yesterday I went to a world renowned nutritionist, and for 2 hours we went over changing my diet and he felt the diet in the program was not right for me.

He put me on a raw food program - not totally vegan. I can eat moderate amounts of chicken and fish every other day to start. It's pretty complicated, and it would take me too long to write the entire diet down.

Has anyone else successfully tried this diet? And does it make you feel more anxious/spacey in the beginning? It hasn't even been a full day yet and I'm already feeling weird. I just want to feel good and have my energy back. Any thoughts?

Hi Shiksa,
I just wanted to let you know I hope your choice of diet will help you. However and I am not a professional but like Lucinda through experiance I have come to a few conclutions when it comes to our diet(s). Yes it is a very good idea to think about how you can improve your diet. I hope you are cooking your fish and chicken which than would not be a real "raw" diet anyhow. But the main thing is that you find a "food LIFE STYLE" that you know you can live with the rest of your life. Don't think about any kind of food as "diet" food. We are in the middle of concering our stress, anxiety and/or depression. To do the program is a challange. I feel if you are comming form a "standard american diet" place and you are going "raw" that's a pretty big step just by itself. Agian it is great that you are willing to change your diet so drasticly. But ask yourself will I be comfortable with this kind of choice for the rest of my live. I allways considered myself a person to enjoy food and to make good choices in regards to that. To me this lesson is just a reminder that in this department I am on the right track but my thing that I am watching more for since I started the program is my suggar intake. It took me about 3 Months to change from a healthy diet that included meat to change to a vegetarian diet. I do not eat meat for over 2 years now but I do occationally eat eggs and a little bit of dairy products when I feel I can not substitute them with some soy based product. I like what I found and I started this because of ceveral health reasons I had. It did help me but even dough I consider myself a physically healthy person that also exersises on the regular bases I too do have issues with anxiety. The program is wonderfull and has allready helped me so much. And I am sure that if I was on a "standart american diet" I probably would have more problems with anxiety. Just keep in mind that you want to IMPROVE your diet. You don't want to change form where you are at this point in your life to something very extreme. You might end up setting yourself up for beeing frustrated, disapointet and yup anxious again.
But I wish you all the best with your choice it is deffinetly a step in the right direction. Listen to yourself and your body and you eventually with find some middle ground you can live with for the rest of your life.

Hi Shiksa,

I tried a raw foods diet a while back but being a mom of 2 and working full time it became EXTREMELY difficult for me. There is a book called The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose that might be helpful to you. She has 4 stages to kindof ease you into eating raw.
Also, you might find this article helful.
http://altmedicine.about.com/od/popularhealthdiets/a/Raw_Food.htm. I think it is natural to feel a little off when you alter your eating habits. Your body might be detoxing at a faster rate than its able to keep up with. I would add more nuts in. This might slow down the detox to a more manageable rate for you. I'm surprised he didn't recommend a plan that would ease you into the new eating plan. It seems it would be much gentler on you. Maybe give him a call to see if he can alter it a bit to help you get adjusted. Good luck with the program!
