Session 5 made it clear to me that I had some serious problems to deal with before I could hope to go on with this program: dependence on EtOH and prescription pain meds for instant relief from anxiety and depresson. While there were no withdrawal symptoms with EtOH, even gradual elimination of the meds has been very painful with paralysing anxiety making basic functioning difficult. Email contact with anyone has been sporadic and continues to be difficult. The shame and humiliation makes even sharing this painful thus I have done this pretty much alone though I know help is available and would never recommend that anyone else do what I have tried. The urge to relapse is powerful.
