I've avoided eating wheat for a few weeks now, and there's been a noticeable difference in how I feel. Not as sluggish (esp. mentally). and not as morose and negative too. Mood swings are lessened, and I seem to recover from negative states more quickly. Many people have wheat intolerances in this culture. Some have allergies to wheat, as well. Although friends have advised me to try this, I've avoided doing so for many years. I thought you guys might want to check it out. It might help you recover more quickly.

Hey Martha!

Try this link: http://www.hghcompany.com/alle62a.htm

Here's a quote from a friend of mine, whos's been into this for quite some time, and even runs a raw food clinic out of his home:

"symptoms of schizophrenia can be severely exacerbated by consumption of even small amounts of wheat.

Wheat reactions sometimes trigger cravings for sugar, as well as an addiction to wheat itself resulting in accelerating consumption of wheat products."

"Very many people are either allergic to, or have a food intolerance for, the type of wheat used in the U.S. Depression is one of the most frequent reactions. This can be prevented by allowing a full three days between consumption of wheat products, including products that have wheat or wheat gluten in them. If there is still a reaction, then allow four full days. It may take two or three weeks for the reaction to fully abate, but there may be a significant reduction in symptoms after the first rotation.

In the meantime, one can substitute a variety of breads available at Trader Joe's that do not contain any wheat, such as Spelt, Spelt Cinnamon Raisin, Rye, Brown Rice, Rice & Almond. They also have Kamut, a distant relative to wheat, but best to avoid this until one is free of reactions and can try it out a few times. Make sure to obtain the loaves indicating they are wheat free."

Martha, let me know if you're interested in contacting my friend, and I'll forward his email address to you. He runs something called the Awaken Foundation, and is also located in CA.
