Hi,
I am somewhat of a sugar addict. I love chocolate and cookies, etc. My problem is is that everywhere I look, there's sugar in everything! Even in supposedly healthy food. So, what can I eat so that I limit my sugar intake?
I am someone who needs to eat throughout the day and I need snacks in b/w meals cuz otherwise I get kind of weak, so what's good (to snack), while minimizing my sugar intake?
Thanks- N.M.

Chick!

I know what you mean about the sugar intake. I have been able to decrease it a lot. For one I try and eat like a fruit salad w/ Cool Whip or Jell-o w/ Cool Whip. I also make graham cracker "ice cream" sandwiches...take a low fat graham cracker (maybe a chocolate kind...although i have not tried this) and put cool whip in btwn the two grahams and then put in the freezer. They taste a lot like an ice cream sandwich. I also get those Yoplait Expresse and put them in the freezer. Its frozen yogurt! And also Welch's makes great Sugar Free (only 6 g of sugar per popscicle) and Not so sugar free (24g) Popscicles! Those are really good! Anyway, I hope that helps you a little bit. If you find any more tips or recipes let me know! Thanks!!!
Take care,
Cindy

Hi,
I don't know of any sugar free stuff. I know for me (I would get the weak shaky thing) that eating protein thruout the day helps keep your blood sugar more level. If you can stay off the junk (sugar) then you will lower your cravings trememndously. Not completely tho. I drink protein shakes. You can buy the powder low in carbs (which just turns to sugar in the body anyway) and in chocolate. I love the flavor and its filling and all protein. Its a treat for me. You can find it in the health food stores. I think along with all the other changes we are making our habits of what we eat tend to follow along too. I just feel like making more healthy choices. I still love Wendy's Frostys tho. My husband eats those sugar free hard candies. If you eat too many of those they can cause gastro problems tho. Anyways, take care. Reena

Chick,

I've decrease sugar in my diet as well. Since then I've noticed that the more sugary snacks one has, the more sugar one craves.
I also noticed that it takes a while before your sugar cravings decrease... about 6 or so weeks for me.

I started by eating a Power Bar instead of a chocolate bar. I would buy one bar and break it up into 3 or 4 pieces and eat it with a glass or two of water whenever cravings would hit me. I did this for a while and it worked. Now whenever I have a little sugary snack, I find it way too sweat and do not end up consuming much of it... I love it.

You can do it!

Of course, don't forget to exercise and enjoy the fruits of the season.
(Frozen grapes are the best... try them!)

Everyone,

Try Organic AGAVE NECTAR SWEET CATUS FARMS Liquid Sweetener (read Label). Tastes just like honey. I love it and use it.

Souther Caifornia has Health Food stores called Henery's Market Place. They sell the best sugar free peach pies, also other sugar free pies, muffans, cookies and candies. Try your local Health Food stores and you will be surprised at the sugar free goodies available.

Vons and Ralphs market carry sugar free cookies, just look in the packaged section at both and the bakery at Ralphs.

Rite Aid Drug stores, Vons and other stores now carry packaged sugar free candies in your name brands.

I seldom eat sugar and never think twice about it because of everything available. There are even sugar free Frozen Yogurts, chocolates, etc.

Bake? Use for fat and sugar sub. bananas or a sugar free apple sauce.

Stewards makes a great Diet Root Beer.

Sugar free Bubble gum takes the edge off.

Enjoy.
