About 3 months ago I changed jobs. I got a job closer to home. I wanted this job so bad, and now that I have it I really don't like it. I don't hate it, I am just bored. I had a very versatile job before that was fulfilling. I just didn't like the distance I had to drive. And my car broke down and this job came at a great time. Well, I've been looking to go back to a hospital, but this one is much closer and only a little farther than where I am now. The problem was that I used to work for them, and I quit without notice. This is a very large health care organization, and of course I was in the system as having a bad mark. I thought there was never any hope of my being employed by this system, but I made a call the the nurse recruiters and both places involved. They agreed that I should be given another chance, and I have an interview next week! If I would have just given up, I would have never known the power of being honest and going to the people who can make things happen. I just wanted to share my story. I never expected to get as far as I did. I only expected to have my voice heard. But for me, that was important. So don't be afraid to ask for what you want and need. You may be surprised. Good luck to all.

Good going Annette!!! I am proud of you. It does take guts to do those things. I have found that when I speak up people are so willing to help out. OF course I do it with humility and kindness. I let them have the ball in their court and they always step up to the plate. I just got a discount on some fabric becuase I was a day late for the sale but I asked and they gave me the discount anyways. I find you get farther with kindness than hostility. Of course that isn't what you were saying but hey, speaking up and going for it is the way to go!

Actually, I did find being totally honest, and being kind got me further than I ever dreamed. My father always told me, above all else be honest. That is something that has always been in me. Sometimes people don't get, because they don't ask.

Annette,
You are so right. Honesty is the best thing. When you said that it reminded me that using honesty along with the kindness is what works. I mean, years ago I thought making excuses (which were mostly true) were what would work, but no. I like a straight answer and so do others. So, being straightforward(honesty with no excuses) and patient and nice works for me. Not the same kind of nice as in being a people pleaser, just polite and respectful. I've heard people in stores yelling and complaining to get their way. Not the way I xhoose to be. Ok, I'm done rambling. Have a good day, Reena
