I read in a great book "Happiness is a choice" about goals and expectations and thought I would share what I thought was a neat point about proper or "Real" expectations.
A healthy goal or expectation is one where: ------------------------------------------- No one else can affect its outcome. It is not dependent on any item that can change at will such as weather, time, money, or people. If the goal doesn't meet that criteria, it is just a desire, don't depend on it because you will be dissappointed if you do. You can still make plans for it just don't set yourself up for failure or dissappointment, instead make the plan realizing that events beyond your control can change its outcome, prepare yourself with an alternative, and be willing to go without if that should happen and then you will be fine. Hope that helps! Dan |

Great thought for today! Hard to put into practice. So many disctractions. Difficult to maintain the focus... but not impossible! Good definition of healthy goal. Thanks Tammy |

Thanks Tammy! I just wanted to pass on what I thought helped me get a better perspective about my expectations.
Have a great one! Dan |

I think I read that book! I have a few copies. Now would be a good time to get it back out. Thanks for the reminder. Reena
