This is the beginning of my 3rd week, and I think I am noticing some changes. I have had a couple of panic attacks, but have been able to talk myself through them. Now if I could only control my anger. I get so mad sometimes and I just yell over stupid things. I am ready for a change.

There is a really good workbook on anger mnagement that I have called The Anger Control Workbook By Matthew McKay, Ph.D & Peter Rogers, Ph. D. It really helped me a lot. It should be available on amazon.com and I think it was around $15-17. Try it out, you might be surprised by the results.

Session 3 was great, but I had chest pain for 3 straight days. Session 4 I have a head cold/allergies but I feel so in control for the last 2 days. Stay with it and stay strong.

Mandy,
OK Knock it off Smiler You just tried to replace a really powerful positive with a negative.
What's up with that? Wink
You've just started and look at the huge progress you've made. Now you can talk yourself through the panic attack! Awesome. That's just the beginning for you and a great beginning!!!! Next thing you know, those panic attacks will become less and less frequent. Step by step.

So what, so you yell at stupid things. That will change for you too. Keep moving forward and keep cheering yourself on for every tiny or big, steps you go forward.
By the way, go easy on yourself with the yelling. The more you ease up on YOU, the less you'll find yourself yelling. We're human, we make mistakes. Go forward!!!!!

Hugs to you. Congratulations!!!!

Thank you everyone for your support. I am really working on the negative thoughts and trying to replace them with positives. I never realized how negative I am, but I am going to get better.

Hey there Mandy79! I just started session 3 too! I also get really angry sometimes which, funny thing, I didn't realize was connected to my anxiety until I started this program. :P I really like what cindylou said. That is very positive, and I'm glad I read it.

It does seem a little overwhelming to know that negative/positive self talk is something I'll have to concentrate on every hour for the next who-knows-how-long.. BUT, BUT compared to the alternative of doing nothing about it.. it seems like a quite bright future. Wink

Sounds like you are making some major improvements really quickly, so I would not expect miracles in reference to the anger. You can't do it all at once, so keep practicing on the panic and then the anger will start to subside as you get a handle on the anxiety. It's like you are a little teakettle trying to hold in all that steam, it has to come out somewhere! Take it slow, and be proud of your accomplishments. It's very encouraging for me to hear how well YOU are doing! Keep up the good work.
Take care Smiler
