Self talk is very important. I am doing this program for the second time through. But during my break in between, I made sure to always write down my negative and positive thoughts. Over time, it really helps to change your perspective on things. There is lots of info out there. There is a website called Phobia Focus that has some stuff for a low cost. Worksheets and recordings and stuff on phobias. That is a good one, too. Anyways, I think this chapter is one of the most important ones in this program.

I am on my 12 Week of the program and thanks to the presence of my Coach Bob Basset I am on my way to completing this course and growing a backbone like I always wanted to but lacked the skills and the belief that I could never get this far. |
Hi. Just wanted to say this and know that I too am a second returner to steps 1 to 6. So far I'm on step 4 and I think since I'm not trying to out do the lady that finished the whole program in 5 weeks, I'll so much more out of it the second time around. At least I'm doing this with the three steps I've restudied so far. I can remember the info except for the titles of the cards. You know what I mean? Anyhow thanks for the info on the Phobia topic. I don't think I have one but the swelling in my legs tells me maybe I do as far as living my life is concerned. I'm terrified to talk at my church and being a sinner against God since I don't follow his commanments like treat your neighbor as good as you would yourself. I find that I can't do this cause their trash is overflowing with beer cans and empty beer boxes that I'm having a hard time wanting to get to know an alcoholic since the time my dad was one of these. I remember what it was like trying to please or be around him at all. So I ignore them as they do me. But I know I'm not afraid of people in general cause I belong to Toastmasters and I have to talk to the members all the time but they make me feel so much better about myself. Also too, I'm a member of Al-Anon 12 Step group so I converse with those folks too. So I don't hate people just the ones that drink excessively. So I avoid them is that really a crime?
